Default A Sobering Experience

In "My Name is Bev," where Bev went to AA and discovered she was an alcoholic, she insisted that no one around her could drink.

She showed up at the Conner's unannounced, and proceeded to ruin Super Bowl Sunday, chasing off Dan's buddies. Jackie, Dan and Fred had to sneak out to the garage to have fun.

It was unfair of Roseanne and Bev to expect everyone to change their lives because Bev had a problem.

An alcoholic needs to adjust to the world, not have the world adjust to them.

Thank goodness, in the end, Roseanne came around and set Bev straight.

I agree with you there, she shouldnt of expected everyone to not drink around her, then what makes me mad after all that bev admits that she had a drink the night before!!

Yeah, I forgot about that! That's when Roseanne had enough and threw her out. Bye bye, Bev!

That was certainly rude of Bev and Roseanne to do that since it was Dan's home too and he shouldn't be made to feel as if he or his friends are not welcome to enjoy a beer.

If Bev invited guests to her home and she chose not to serve alcohol, that is certainly her privilege, choice, etc. It is HER HOME, no one else's.

My father-in-law is a recovering alcoholic and when he comes over sometimes, I put my drink in a cup instead of drinking the beer all out in the open. Just to be nice.

That is very supportive of you, but I think that eveyone was speaking of the fact that Bev and Rosanne was saying they couldn't drink at all because the battleAx was there..UNIVITED!!!! Then she played the victim. PLEASE!

I had a similar experience.

When a cousin of mine got married, the Maid Of Honor had recently given up drinking, so she didn't want any booze at the reception.

Needless to say, some of us were out in the parking lot drikning beer we bought at a local liquor store.

That does suck - the whole celebration gets changed just because one person can't handle their alcohol. She should have just toughened up for the night knowing what was going to be there.

If you can't trust yourself for one evening, then even if you are in the wedding party maybe you should make the decision not to attend the event.

I was going to say the same thing. Of course I personally would pick my wedding party that practices the same lifestyle. If they change before then and I wanted that person in the wedding party, I would say look, you can be in the wedding party but know that there will be alcohol and if you can't handle it, I don't know what to tell you.
