Default Ethel and her fashions...

It was said by Ethel on at least two occasions, she only had one dress. She griped abt not having a great wardrobe. Yet, if you pay attention to the show, you will see Ethel had several pretty dresses. One of my faves is the dress she wears in the episode where she and Fred are not speaking and they make up while eating at the Ricardos place. She is wearing a black top with a patterned-style skirt. It appears the skirt is black and white. I assume the top is black. That is a very pretty ensemble. It makes her look young not so matronly.

The other dress is the one she wears when the fab four go out to dinner to help Lucy feel "loved" because she is pregnant and Lucy thinks Ricky only loves the baby and not her. That dress just barely covers her chest area and shows what beautiful shoulders she has. Isn't that a part of Vivian's body that she loved the most? That dress also makes her look very young and vivacious. She has some curves going on, though I am sure a girdle helped her there, but what the hell, it is all abt how you look overall, and Ethel was indeed HOT!

Was was pretty too, I guess she was only allowed to dress up for certain occasions. I guess she forgot about those other dresses, LOL.

OH God, yes!!!! Those are the two. How beautiful she looks. I really love those two outfits. Fred was damn lucky to have such a young looking wife.

The other outfit that really showed us her sexiness was of course in the Charm School episode. Miss Tiger...

Post I agree

I agree - I think Ethel looked quite presentable whenever they went somewhere nice. She may not have had any 'stunners' like Lucy, but Ethel was always well put-together when the occassion called for it.

She also looked really great in the "Friendship" song dress, as did Lucy. Too bad the dresses had to suffer those fates!

Just the other day I say Ethel look lovely in a more casual, yet very polished manner. It was the episode where Lucy and Ethel want to learn French. She had on a plain-ish top if I remember correctly, yet she also wore a nice scarf around her neck and a quite pretty dark skirt that was cinched at the waist by a satin-looking band of material. The rest of the skirt was not as shiny, but it flowed around her. It made me say wow!

Might anyone be able to provide a screen cap of that ensemble?

Another stunner is the dress she wore in the episode where Ethel and Lucy went to the casino in Monte Carlo.

speaking of the episode where fred and ethel are not speaking and lucy gets them together for dinner.....this is one of my fav. 1 season eps.(most of you all know that i am not a big fan of season one in the least). I roll everytime i hear fred and ethel talk.

Ethel: he said my mother looked like a weasel.
Lucy: Fred appologize.
Fred: Oh, ok. Ethel im sorry your mother looks like a weasel!

LOL (i think it was fred who said it about ethels mother, i could be vice versa but either way still funny)

Vivian Vance surely did have some curves and was a very attractive woman. She was playing against type when she took the part of Ethel. Prior to I Love Lucy, where she really played down her good looks, she had generally been cast in plays as "the other woman."

Her shoulders looked like mine! Her shoulders were beautiful, but I think those eyes were the most beautiful part of her body. Especially in the picture where she's wearing the strapless dress. I can't tell what color her eyes were because the pictures are in black and white. What color were they? Can someone tell me?

Whenever I think of Ethel's dresses the first thing that comes to mind is the one with all the arrows around the neckline. She wore that a lot.

What I like about Ethel is that she's not anorexic-looking like most actresses today. She did have some beautiful eyes too, but the thing I like the most is her curvy figure. I think she was just beautiful.
