Default Whose Line is it Anyway?

Any other fans of this show at these boards? An absolute hysterical show . . . I fell out of my chair laughing in almost every episode. I just bought season 1, volume 2 today, and I already watched almost the entire set. The bloopers are what got me the most. I really applaud Warner for giving us almost 10 minutes of bloopers on each disc. For such a simple show, one of their best sets.

I am a HUGE fan of the show. I am adding Whose Line to my Christmas list wish this year! I have to have that show. It is incredibly funny. I wish it was still on the air.

I like it too and have all three of the DVD sets so far. I used to watch the UK version when it aired on Comedy Central and then I watched the US version on ABC Family.

When I bought Seasons 1 & 2 of the UK version, I was surprised to see Ryan in only two episodes. And you can tell he's kind of nervous in his very first episode. It's funny to see, knowing that later on, he becomes one of the major players in the show.

The US version doesn't have Tony Slattery and that's a shame. Because he's hysterical. But then, the UK version doesn't have Colin until season 3 and Wayne until, like season 9 or 10.

I sooooo much prefer our version over the UK version. We have more slapstick and so much more going on with Drew and his crew.

well; I prefer the UK version so much over the US version. That one's allright; not good but not bad either.
I wish COMEDY CENTRAL would show the UK version again.

The UK version is FAR superior...and i cant stand Drew Cary in anything, to begin with. The UK version let the comics go wild , wheras Drew Cary tried to highjack the US show constantly; instead of letting the comics do their thing< which is what "Improv" is supposed to be about

I had no idea you liked Whose Line that much, Irene. It's good to know, though. Our version is much better than the UK's. We have much more hilariosity, and things aren't serious at all like they are on the UK version. Drew Carey's also a much better host. I always loved the way he laughed at the improv.

Just thought I'd post something on this show after I bought Volume 2. I was very surprised with the special features on this set. I wasn't expecting any at all, since I don't think they were mentioned in the press release. We get over 10 minutes of bloopers on each disc, and they made me fall out of my chair laughing so hard the entire 10 minutes. You can tell that no children were allowed in that audience from some of things they were saying and doing-LOL

I dissagree with you on EVERY point you made here! (sorry)
(I suppose which version you prefer depends on individual taste...I loved the UK version, watched every ep, but, i only needed to watch the US version a few times to know that I hated it!)

Why'd you hate it so much? It was hilarious, and a great show to watch when you're bored. I watched the UK version quite a few times on Comedy Central when it was on, and I didn't hate it, I just thought our version was better.

I gave my reasons on my first post on this thread (#6), but hey, we cant all have the same tastes, right? At least we can both agree to liking the UK version

A thing that's both good and bad about the UK version is that they have more players to choose from. Whereas the US version almost always (if not always) has Colin and Ryan. And most of the episodes have Wayne Brady. So that's good if you like to see a nice variety of players. However, I admit that I love seeing Colin and Ryan together in almost every episode of the US version.

I like both versions. It took me a while to finally get into the US version though. I'm not a fan of Drew Carey and he definitely turned me off. Why does he have to participate in any of the games? Clive Anderson didn't get involved with the players. He let them be funny on their own and simply hosted the show.

I will admit that I'm not a big fan of John Sessions, who appeared in every episode of season 1 (of the UK show) and a bunch in the second season. Of the UK version I liked Paul Merton, Tony Slattery, Mike McShane, Josie Lawrence and of course Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles.

My favorite game on the US show is the one where Ryan and Colin do an infomercial for a music CD and Wayne has to sing the songs. I don't remember if the UK show did that or not. Other than the DVDs, it's been a long time since I've seen the show.

I am a die-hard fan. I love The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line. As a matter of fact, I watched Whose Line first and it was from that show I ended up watching Drew Carey show. Two great shows that were on ABC. My boyfriend didn't care for the UK version of Whose Line either.

Well, great minds think alike-LOL. I actually started watching Whose Line because of The Drew Carey Show. Before that, I had never watched the UK version, either. I guess you have to like Drew Carey to like Whose Line, for whatever reason.

Not only that, you get the fabulous Wayne Brady who ended up hosting his own talk show, won an emmy for that and did a few television variety specials. He really is a talented guy and I enjoyed watching him sing and dance on Whose Line.

Wayne Brady was good in Whose Line. He definitely had all those singng bits down. Without him, the show would have been boring. I try to watch him on DFtL, but the show isn't that great to begin with.

My 2 favorites, of course, are still Ryan and Colin. Whenever it's ust the 2 of them in a game together, I laugh the whole time. Both are wonderful and talented at improv. No wonder they were regulars the entire series.
