A few years ago, I read in a magazine that Frank Bank (Lumpy) was a ladies man. Anyone else ever hear this? Is it true? Somehow, I can't picture him as a "ladies man". He seems kind of awkward and goofy looking.

He wrote his autobiography, Call Me Lumpy, a few years back. In the book, he claimed to have slept with over 1,000 women.
That's not exactly a vision you'd like to have.

Anyway, I have never read Frank Bank's book, and I might be going by some quotes of his in interviews, or something, but the way he has had as many women [though I'm skepitcal of his numbers claim] is just that people love to associate themselves with 'name' celebrities, just to say "I slept with ...." for one example. Granted, he wasn't anything like Elvis, who was known to tell his 'Memphis Mafia' to go to where all the girls are crowding around his gate and 'bring me a redhead about 5'8" and slim.' To me, all this celebrity worship is a modern form of idolatry, and too many people will go as far as they can with it.. even throwing themselves at "Lumpy." |

Eeeuuwww, yuck.
![]() I think tdr has a point...anyone can be a ladies man if they have some notoriety and some money, which he had both back in the day. Why he would want to boast about how many women he slept with is beyond me, and just shows you how he was a ladies man...he looked for it, offered it, and kept count. Ack.

I wonder if Jerry Mathers was a ladies man back in the day. If he was as awkward as "Beaver" in real life, I doubt he was a ladies man. He seemed like the kind of teenager that would trip over his own feet, not an attractive quality if you ask me.

This was also the same case for Don Knotts, who was also supposed to be quite the ladies man. Even Andy Griffith mentioned it in an interview(I think it was on one of those TV Land specials)
Knotts is great, and one of my favorite comedic actors, but I doubt he would have been popular with so many women without the money and fame. |
