Default TODAY IS THE DAY

Well folks its October 15th 2007, the dawning of a new era on the price is right. Once the show airs this morning I figured it would be fun to post our thoughts on Drews first show here so fire away!!!!

Drew seems a bit stiff, but it is his first day hosting a show that someone else has worked on for 35 years. I'll be happy to give him a bit more time. At least he's not too loud and he still looks like he's having fun.

I wouldn't have changed the main theme, but at least they just updated it and didn't change it to some techno-esque garbage that repeats itself every 4-7 notes (Lingo's 2002 theme, I'm talking to YOU).

Drew is capable of keeping the show moving regardless of how much he weighs. He still looks presentable, and I'd much rather have an average looking host any day than someone hot who obviously doesn't need to be on a game show set hosting anything.

Drew Carey did a good job,but remember this only the first day,i think he get a whole lot better remainder of the week. i'm am proud on his first day that he had perfect shows,77 perfect shows in TPIR History. i love the The Price is Right theme,Come on Down theme, and Showcase Showdown theme,Edd Kalehoff and folks at Score productions remixed these themes in stereo did a awesome job with these themes. i beileve Drew will make The Price is Right his home.

Let me first say that this show was taped on August 28th & was actually the 10th show that he ever taped. It was not the 1st show that he taped. They are airing out of order early on in the season so we don't see the same games day in & day out. I am looking foward to seeing his first show that he actually taped.

On to my thoughts:

I think the show was an absolute & utter mess. Keep in mind that my opinion is from a lifelong price fan who loved Bob barker & his style.

I know the barker era is over & now the carey era is under way but some of the basic things that need to be done on the show (explaining the big wheel, explaining what is happening with the showcases etc) he just didn't do when he needed to do.

I think that if you have never watched the show before or you are just a casual fan of the show & this was the first time, I think people would think Drew was fine but from a diehard price fan who has watched for more than 25 years, today was very hard.

I heard the new theme ahead of time & i didn't like it when I heard it at first but on the show i kinda liked it. I really liked the come on down music. It sounded very sharp. So overall I don't mind the new music.

The set I got many looks at ahead of time & was prepared for it & i think it is ok, it doesn't look bad on tv.

Drew I think in time will be fine, it is clear that he is making the show his own & that is crucial & that is probably half the reason I am having a tough time with it right now although i did like his mountain climber comments during the cliffhangers game.

He just has to get the " price basics & fundamentals" down, once he does i think he will be ok & i do believe the show is in good hands.

I enjoyed Drew's first show today. I liked the changes made to the set and the re-recorded music cues. Drew was very funny in some games, like Cliffhangers, plus he wasn't rushing some games like Bob did, especially It's in the Bag. I think he'll do fine, he's a hit with the audience. I've been watching TPIR for 25 years (I'm 28). My grandmother isn't so sure about Drew, she complained 'it's not the same without Bob'.

Ok well that explains why he didn't say anything about taking over as the new host.-lol I was wondering why he just came out and started the show without stating that he is glad to be the new host and expect the new era to be just as exciting as the previous. So I didn't see that because it wasn't the first show-lol THANKS MRIGGLES

Probably because he was TOO STIFF. I don't know if it was because of NERVES or his Small Suit

I loved it when he said "try not to hurt the Yodel man" to the Cliffhangers contestant. And as much as I respected most of Bob's hosting abilities, the one thing he did in the final few years I could not stand was how he was basically like "HURRY UP!!!" every five minutes. And the one time Drew did need to rush someone, he was rather polite.

Mriggles i agree with you 100% percent,i want to see August 15th the very first taping. i hope they show it next week or end this month,we may know by end of this week when they gonna show it. i agree Drew does need little more work on his price basics and Fundamentals. tomorrow's show will be August 17th Taping. i dunno if it's 5th show or 6th show of Drew's.
