Default Lucy's Rings

I have been curious about Lucy's rings on the show. If anyone has any information about her rings, please chime in! The following are just some beginning observations:

Wedding band-early seasons; on and off throughout the other seasons.

Large sparkley ring-1st shown season 4, #120, "The Bullfight Dance"? Only used in Hollywood episodes 4 times? Used most of season 6. Used on and off intermittently with the plain band

My gosh, how can you pick up on all this minute details like a ring? That's amazing! I'm afraid I can't help here.

Interesting topic. I too have noticed various rings but always wondered if they were real or cosmetic jewelry. Seeing that I viewed them for a fraction of a second on screen, it is really hard to even guess. Seeing them here on these fabulous pics you posted, it is so nice to have a nice long, lasting look at them. Minus the first plain band, the rest are simply gorgeous. Whether they are fake or not, make no mistake abt it, they are fabulous.

It is interesting that she alternated between the band and the rock quite frequently. I couldn't find a pattern or reason to switch. Sometimes she had the rock on when she was dressed more casually or did physical comedy and sometimes she had on the plain band when she was really dressed up. I wonder who decided which ring she wore and when. I think she kept the band on always and then added the other ring onto the same finger.

The "black" ring is intriguing, though. It must have had some significance; we know how Lucy was, adding little personal touches to ILL. It might have been a Ball/Hunt family heirloom.

That is what is sad at times. We may never know everything there is to know abt Lucy and the whole ILL show, because the principal players are now gone. I know Luci and Desi Jr. can speak for their parents, but they may not know every little significant thing (or non-significant thing) us fans notice.

About 10 years ago, I went to hear Lucie give a lecture about her parents. Someone in the audience stood up and asked whether her mother, on The Lucy Show, was the first actress to portray a divorcee on television. Of course, Lucy played a widow, not a divorcee; it was Vivian who played the divorcee. But Lucie did not know the answer to that question, apparently was not even aware that Lucy Carmichael was supposed to be a widow.

OMG I shudder the thought that Lucie did not know the answer. Isn't that weird?

I thought so. And I wanted to stand up and set the record straight, but it was a big auditorium full of people and I'm too shy for that.

LOl! NOVARick, that would have been funny. Maybe you could have just crouched down in your seat and just kind of blurted it out.

One thing that used to drive me nuts was when Lucy would tell the story about her nose catching on fire on a talk show or something and make it seem like it was an accident and not planned. I don't know if she just forgot or thought it made a better story or what.

From what I heard, her nose catching on fire was written into the script, but Lucy ad-libbed when she dipped it into the coffee.

Just like when she told the story abt the grape stomping scene, she would say how the lady in the vat with her must have taken her instructions literally from the interpreter (the lady spoke no English) because next thing Lucy knew, she was literally being drowned in the grape juice in that vat. Lucy didn't care because it gave the scene a lasting impression and there were no holds barred.
