Episode: In The Game part 1

(Edna is in the living room watching Match Game/ Hollywood Squares Hour)

Gene: All right well Colleen you won the Match Game part of our show. So when we come back, you'll play our champion Wallace in the Hollywood Squares plus we will add three celebrities right after this.

(Ticket Plug Plays)

Edna: I guess I better get into the shop.

Gene Wood: If you live in the New York area and would like to be a contestant on the Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour, we will hold a contestant search at Radio City Music Hall

Edna: Radio City Music Hall.

Gene Wood: Yes, Radio City Music Hall next Monday. We will return after this.

(Tootie and Natalie walk in)

Tootie: Nat, you are a sick puppy

(Natalie smiles)

Natalie: Ruff, Ruff

(Edna walks back in)

Mrs. G: What's up girls

Natalie: Nothing much, I just pulled a prank on Tootie that she will never forget

Edna: What did you do?

Natalie: Well you know that package my mother sent me last week

Edna: Yea, it had 20.00, a new sweater, and

(Edna pauses)

Edna: You Didn't

Natalie: I sure did, those frogs legs totally had Tootie fooled for chicken, it was great

Edna: Well go change, you still have a job to do

Natalie: OK

(Natalie runs upstairs, Edna looks at Tootie)

Edna: Frog legs huh, yuk

Tootie: I know the feeling, by the way what's for dinner

Edna: Chicken

Tootie: To make sure let's go to the Kernel

(New Scene, Dinner)

Edna: Well girls, I have something to tell ya

Jo: What Mrs. G

Edna: You know that show Match Game/ Hollywood Squares Hour

The Girls: Yeah

Edna: They're holding contestant searches in New York next week, and i'm gonna tryout

Tootie: Well next week is spring break maybe we will all go to New York for a week

Jo: OK

Natalie: Fine with me

Blair: I can't go

(Tootie looks at Blair)

Natalie: Blair can't go; why can't you go Blair

(Jo puts her fist in Blair's face)

Jo: Yeah, why can't you go

Blair: Well Joanna, The Barbarian, if you must know I have made plans to spend the week in Europe with my mother

Edna: Well that's too bad, Blair. I think that Macy's, Bloomingdale’s will miss you

Blair: Yeah, they will won't they

Jo: Not really, They'll survive

(New Scene, Radio City Music Hall)

Talent Coordinator: All right if you're here for MG/HS step to the right if you're here for Wheel Of Fortune, step to the left

Edna: All right to the right we go

(Everyone goes into the contestant room)

Talent Coordinator: We ask that you only bring one person in with you

Edna: All right, I'm going in

(Edna crosses her fingers)

Talent Coordinator: All right we will call four of you in at a time in alphabetical since there are 30 of you today we will pick only 15 so good luck to everyone

(About an hour later)

Talent Coordinator: Garrett, Harris

(Edna gets up and turns to the person next to her)

Edna: That's me

Woman: Good luck

Edna: Same to you

(Edna enters the room)

Talent Coordinator: Welcome to our game were we will play the game with you and the winner will be selected for a call back in the future. we will only play Match Game for time purposes and you will only get one shot so think hard. Here is your panel, me , the creator Mark Goodson, and special guest that week Lisa Whelchel

(Edna blinks and looks funny)

Mark: Is there something wrong?

Edna: That girl looks like someone I know

(Lisa walks over)

Lisa: Maybe we've met before, but I don't remember where?

Talent Coordinator: Can we move on

Lisa: Yes, Please

Talent Coordinator: And now here's you host, Gene Rayburn

(Everyone Claps)

Gene: Hello welcome

(Shakes both of their hands)

Gene: I guess I'll start with David Harris, tell us a little about yourself

Harris: What do ya mean? I'm a guy I don't go for that stuff

Gene: No I mean occupation, I'm sorry, job.

Harris: I collect trash for the city of Manhattan

(Gene looks at Harris)

Gene: What a respectable job, now on to Edna Garrett, how are ya

Edna: Nervous

Gene: No need to be nervous you're with friends

(Gene, Lisa, Mark, and Talent Coordinator smiles at her)

Gene: Tell us a little bit about yourself

Edna: Hello my name id Edna Garrett I own a little business called Edna Edibles in Peekskill, New York

Gene: Great, happy to have the both of you here. I'll explain the rules one more time you only have one chance to do this so make it count. We’ll flip to see who will go first Edna call it

(Gene flips a coin)

Edna: Heads

Gene: Sorry it was tails, David, A or B

Harris: A or B what

Gene: The question

Harris: B

Gene: Herb said it is tough being married to a policeman because last she arrested me for blank

(Edna hums the think music)

Gene: Lisa , Jerry, And Mark are all in we need your answer

Harris: Littering

Edna: What? That can't be the answer, it's a funny show but that was just plain stupid, but I wish you luck.

Gene: Edna

(Edna looks at Gene)

Gene: Me host, You contestant

(Looks at Harris)

Gene: She has a point thought. Lisa, what did you say

(Lisa shows card)

Lisa: Trespassing

Gene: That's not a match, Jerry

(Jerry shows his card)

Jerry: I also said trespassing

Gene: Wow, 0 for 2 well Mark what do ya say

Mark: I figured him out so I said littering

Gene: That's a match, so it's 1 to zip. Edna, here is your Question A. Philip said: " I'll never get in a compact car again, my blank got caught in the steering wheel"

(Panel hums the think music)

Gene: All are in Edna two matches will do it, what do ya say

Edna: Tongue

Gene: That sounds great to me, but let's see what the peanut gallery has to say

(Lisa holds up the card)

Lisa: I said arm

Gene: This is not one of your best questions is it?

Lisa: This is my first time

Gene: on to Jerry

(Hold up the card)

Jerry: I said tongue

Gene: That's a match one you win it, Mark

(Holds up the card)

Mark: I said tongue

(Starts low then gets high)
Edna: I won. I won ,I won

Gene: Yes, Yes, Yes. We will contact you in Peekskill or we will get you information today

Edna: Do it today, I'll be in New York all week

Mark: Well in the case how about taping Wednesday.

Gene: Free air trip, First class accommodations.

Edna: What about my girls

(Walks over to Mark)
Gene: You're rich enough

Mark: Sure

(Shake everyone’s hand)
Edna: Thank you all

Gene: Tell Jerry what room and Hotel and we will call you at seven and the plane leaves at 9pm tonight

Edna: Ok i'll see ya later

(Edna leaves)

Gene : I think we got someone who will leave Wallace in the dust

(In The Lobby)

Jo: So did you make it

Edna: Not for this tapping

Natalie: Were sorry you didn't make it

Tootie: yeah

Edna: No need to be. We just have an early flight out to

(Edna pauses)

Edna: LA, I made Wednesday’s tapping, we have to get to the hotel because the plane leaves tonight at nine

Jo: Congratulations Mrs. G

Natalie: Let's go pack
