Heroes star Zachary Quinto was planning to quit showbusiness before he landed his villainous role as Sylar because he was so depressed with the way his career was heading.
The actor admits he had "a real existential crisis" just before he turned 30 and was just about to turn his back on acting when the "Heroes" role appealed to him. He tells TV Guide magazine, "I was in the depths of despair to the point where I couldn't get out of bed. I was about to turn 30, which is a notorious tumultuous time for people, and I was dealing with career obstacles that were profound. I was asking myself, 'What's the point of all this? Why am I even in the game anymore?'" Now, the show has put Quinto's faith back into acting, and helped him win his dream role as the young Mr. Spock in moviemaker J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek film. |
