Ok, here's what's going on. When I open internet explorer and surf the net everything is fine until I click a link that opens a new window, whenever a new window is opened, an error message pops up that windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, send error report or don't send. Is there anything I can do to fix this? It's becoming annoying!

Well I'm not exactly a computer geek but I had a similar problem not too long ago and mine turned out to be a problem with an add-on, or one of the bunches of extra crap that opens whenever I open my browser. You can check your add-ons and see if there's a problem with those first. So here's how you do it.
First, go to the start menu and open your browser without any add-ons by clicking on accessories then system tools then "open internet explorer without add-ons." Then try opening a link and see if you have the same problem. If you don't, then you'll need to go through every add-on and systematically turn them off one at a time and see which one is causing the problem. Once you figure out which is causing the problem (mine was one form Norton) then you can disable it and that'll solve it. Here's a link that I used to walk me through it step by step; it also has other things you can try if it's not an add-on problem. Just start answering the questions on each page and it will tell you what to try. Actually, I've used this online support site to solve lots of problems. Makes me feel like a computer whiz when I'm not. If you can't get this link to work because of the error, either paste it in or try clicking the "help" button on the toolbar at the top of your explorer, then click "online support" or whatever you have there that's similar. Some computers are made to be able to access and navigate the support site even when your browser isn't working-- mine did. Hope it helps! http://support.microsoft.com/gp/pc_ie_intro |
