Oh No Man Arrested for Trying to Pass Million Dollar Bill

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071009/...NH3lExVvSs0NUE

PITTSBURGH - Change for a million? That's what a man was seeking Saturday when he handed a $1 million bill to a cashier at a Pittsburgh supermarket. But when the Giant Eagle employee refused and a manager confiscated the bogus bill, the man flew into a rage, police said.

The man slammed an electronic funds-transfer machine into the counter and reached for a scanner gun, police said.

Police arrested the man, who was not carrying identification and has refused to give his name to authorities. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

Since 1969, the $100 bill is the largest note in circulation.

Police believe the $1 million note seized at the supermarket may have originated at a Dallas-based ministry. Last year, the ministry distributed thousands of religious pamphlets with a picture of President Grover Cleveland on a $1 million bill.

Many many moons ago, there was an actual $1 million dollar bill created. I think only a few of those were actually made, but not for circulation purposes.

What a bonehead to think he could pass that bill on. He is beyond a bonehead. Thanx for this bonehead thread. It's been a while since I have read one.

Just thinking that he could actually get change is mind boggling! Alot of places won't even change a $100.00.

ROFL!!! what an idiot.

Even if the clerk would've been dumb enough to think the bill was valid, it's not like the store would have enough change for it anyways, At the most, there's probably 500-1,000 in change tops.

Seriously! When I was a cashier at a movie theater, we had to begin each shift with $400 in the register. At the end of each shift, we had to count the drawer back down to $400 and put all excess money into a blue pouch, which went into the counting room (where the safe was located). Then we'd wait for the armored car to come. So it would be REALLY hard to break a million-dollar bill!!

I don't know, a hot dog, a large tub of popcorn and a large soda along with a large box of candy can pretty much easily add up to a million dollars.

I know what you mean. My boyfriend and I make sure we go out to eat BEFORE the movie. And still, he will buy a big tub of popcorn and a large soda.
