Big Bang Theory Week 3 Ratings - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

The Big Bang Theory had another good ratings week in the fast nationals for its third episode. It beat How I Met Your Mother once again in the ratings, and it clobbered NBC's critically acclaimed Chuck in the ratings. It beat HIMYM by 330,000 viewers, and it also had a 3.4 to 3.2 rating over HIMYM in the all important 18-49 year old demo.

Here are the ratings from Marc Berman of Mediaweek magazine:

CBS placed a competitive second overall for the evening. How I Met Your Mother was second at 8 p.m., with 8.03 million viewers and a 3.2/ 9 among adults 18-49, followed by week three of The Big Bang Theory at 8.36 million viewers and a 3.4/ 8 in the demo. The minor growth for Big Bang Theory out of How I Met Your Mother is still a positive worth noting.

Here is the critically acclaimed Chuck's ratings :

Week three of NBC’s Chuck took a tumble, dipping to fourth in the 8 p.m. hour with 7.12 million viewers and a 2.6/ 7 among adults 18-49.

3 for 3 in building on the lead-in. That is good news. Bad news is it has dropped each week, so I'm a bit worried for next week. You do not want to see HIMYM doing better because CBS will be quick to pull the plug.

8.36 million viewers is impressive. So far the show has been building each week as a series. It's nice to hear people are tuning in. I'm already looking forward to the next episode. I can't get enough of this show!

Yes, but its drop has been very minimal. It dropped something like 2-3% this week. HIMYM actually came up, BBT really didn't go down. With these two shows being CBS's two youngest skewing shows I think they are both okay for now.

Yes, it is. Its opening ratings were higher than BTY, Carpoolers and Cavemen numbers. BTY has dropped every week by a lot. With Carpoolers and Cavemen probably dropping tonight it will be # 1 for now.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was second in households (5.3/08), viewers (8.36m), adults 25-54 (4.0/09) and adults 18-49 (3.4/08, up +3% from 3.3/08 last week). THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER lead-in by +2% in households, +8% in adults 25-54, +6% in adults 18-49 and added +330,000 viewers.

Up 3% from last week in 18-49 is very good. The only thing I'm concerned about is the % building on HIMYM is getting lower each week.

I think it is pretty good news. It increased its lead in total viewers to 390,000 over HIMYM in the final numbers, and it increased by 6 % in the 18-49 demo, and 8 % in the 25-54 year olds.

Another good week for this show. I hope it keeps it up. Fingers crossed.
