Default I kind of felt sorry for the guest stars whom David befriended

After watching all of season 1 and some of 2, he developed a close friendship with every guest cast. Then, at the end and closing of every episode, he suddenly had to leave town and every guest was real sad because the friendship was always seemed to be peaking and David some of the time leave without letting the friend know. Most of them had that same long look to their face. I know it wasn't personal, but he could at least kept in touch with them.

Yeah, he became so involved in their lives and problems, you'd think he'd be a little curious how they are. But then, it could have been hard to keep track of all those people...and the last name he gave them. lol

Man could have had more girlfriends than Hugh Hefner if he kept in touch with all of them.

I fell sorry mostly for the girls that David met and have romance with(he never cared if the girl would become pregnant).Anyway,if I was one of these girls I would want to stay with him forever. The only one who did marry with him died though. It always been my favorite episode with Mariette Hartley. They made a beautiful couple for very short time.

David was a bit of a player in this series. He always met a woman who he could have easily settled down with. At the same time, the women liked David because he was a gentleman. I think that is what really attracts women instead of style and substance.

Funny, I too felt sad for the way each episode ended. I wanted David to just settle where he was at and live his life. Of course, there wouldn't be a show then, but still, the emotional attachment was there and I hated it. The ending music didn't help matters either, it was so sad.

David having that straight blank look on his face didn't help either. He rarely showed emotion.

That was almost gut-wrenching. I can hear the ending music in my head right now.

So sad watching this nice man having to walk away alone.

If he'd have come to my house, I would have kidnapped him.

Works for me. Plus, you could tell the man was no dummy. Gotta love the smart ones.

It's been so many years since I've seen TIH... I saw it when it originally aired and in reruns after that, but I've been away from it for a long time.

Haven't been thrilled with recent tv/cable trends, so I've been going "old school" lately and am so excited to have re-discovered this series!!

I agree with everyone who posted here about the friendships/relationships that developed, the reasons why, the attachments, and then having to let them go. I thought I was the only one who thought about such things, lol, don't know why, but it's great to be able to share similar thoughts.

As I've been watching TIH and much of Bill Bixby's other work, what stands out is that he is so kind, likable, and gentlemanly, and in a quiet way, charismatic. I'm sure I'm rambling by now, but there's so much about him I'd like to express and I can't put it into sufficient words. I guess it's plenty good to say I love him and am so glad I can still watch his great shows. Can't wait to get my TIH complete series DVD's!!!

The only sad part is that he's gone and we can't see him in anything current, which makes me miss him even more, but he'll always be in our hearts.
