Default Not for the squeamish

Hi, everyone. This is not a question about the characters on the show, but on the actors. I know that GI fans can tend to appreciate them on the verge of worship and that they are idols and I understand all that, I am a GI fan too! Still, there is something I would like to ask that might bother some people even more than my "Sex Before the Shipwreck" question, but here goes. Over the years, I have heard a few times that Bob Denver and Dawn Wells were romantically involved. Before I had heard that, I wondered about it myself. The trouble is that I never heard it directly, it was always from someone who said they had read it somewhere or had heard it on a news show. This is not about the marijuana thing, although who knows, it may have come up in conjunction with that. Of course it is possible that it is not true and that everything the actors say (although there was one comment from one of them supposedly that was iffy) about the pure family nature of the cast is true. Still, this other possibility can seem likely given their extremely close relationship almost right from the start, as I've heard, that continued supposedly until his death. Yet, on the other hand, they never married, although Bob Denver kept getting married, which would seem strange. Does anyone know anything about this insofar as having read it or heard it somewhere at some point over the years??? I'm just curious.

I can't be 100% certain, but the sense I've gotten from all the stuff I've seen and heard about over the years was that Bob and Dawn were always terrific friends, but never romantically involved.

Yeah, I've never heard anything about being 'romanticly' involved. I know Dawn and Russell were close from the start since they were at first 'the rest'. However, they've always been adamant that they were just friends.
...Dawn and Bob though, it's an interesting thought. But more likely than not, that's probably what it is, a tought.
As for the others... Jim was married, Natalie had been married (I'm pretty sure her husband died a bit before the show), don't know about Alan, but Tina was engaged around the time of the third season wasn't she? And of course, Russell is married now.

Are there any books about the cast and show that would answer the questions you have?

Most likely.. .not. Because those books all seem to be sugar covered. I'm trying to get "A Companion's Guide to Gilligan's Island" but who knows what'll be in that. Anybody have it?

The few GI books I've read have been strictly the history. (plot lines, funny stories, original casts, inside jokes, ect.) Not very much drama. However, Bob Denver's book shows a little spite towards Tina... but we all knew how those two got along anyway.

Hi, being a friend of Dawn Wells and well connected to this show through other sources, I can tell you that Bob Denver & Dawn Wells were never romantically involved in any way. They were co-workers on the show and friends off the set as well. Hope that helps & clears up any rumors.

I heard Dawn saying in a interview that she had a little crush on Russell but, that's all, they never dated or anything.Dawn & Russell were married during the show.Dawn got divorced & lost her father the year that the show got cancelled.I don't think she was in the mood to date anybody.

I'm pretty sure Bob had a crush on Dawn just by the way he talks about her in his book.He keeps saying how he loved working with her,how intelligent she is,how beautiful she is and how a great actress she is.He doesn't talk that much about his other partners on the show.

Wink

I have on pretty good authority that when the cast and crew all wrapped for the day, Dawn and Bob stayed on the set and then Dawn would tie Bob up in his hammock and throw coconut cream pies at him while yelling, 'who's the Skipper now?'.

Then the two of them would take turns playing 'I Hear And Obey' with Dr. Boris's rings.

Who could've blamed Bob or anyone if they were attracted to Dawn Wells. I have a feeling that, as mentioned earlier, they were co-workers and good friends. It always seemed to me that Tina Louise got a lot of the attention, but I have always been a Mary Ann fan. Dawn Wells isn't aging gracefully, she isn't aging at all! She is one beautiful woman. I wonder what she is doing these days?

Dawn Wells is indeed a beatiful woman, a natural beauty who has aged really really well...

...but no one looks like she does at age 69 without an armload of beauty products, cosmetics, and hair dye. I don't mean this disrespectfully. I'm sure Dawn would be the first to admit it.
