I was watching the Tim McClure segment last night and am pretty sure that Tim played himself in the reenactment. It felt a little bizarre, though I can't quite put my finger on why. Anyone remember any other segments where the acting was done by someone involved in the case?

I would imagine the reason Tim McClure portrayed himself in the re-enactments was to come off as more believable - but it certainly backfired IMO. He could have benefitted largely by having an actor play him.

They did it a lot more earlier on in the show's history. Some of the "acting" was less than stellar but made for good comedy. There were quite a few stories where people involved acted in the recreation. However, it was rare for someone accussed or suspected to play themselves like Tim "Guilty as Sin" McClure.

I've always wondered about that. What is the purpose(s) of the actual persons involved in a certain case acting in a reenactment?
