Default Your favorite charming moment from I.L.L.

The Ricky Was A Stinker thread got me to thinking about the nice things they sometimes did and the sweet moments on the show. Pick your fav moment(s). Mine is in Lucy Is Enciente when she has Ricky sing a song to a pregnant couple and he looks all over the club room for the couple. When he gets to Lucy, he smiles and she smiles back. But she really smiles. This is when it dawns on Ricky that Lucy & he are the couple. To me it was a real charmer.

What's yours?

Mine is the same episode only my favorite moment is when he's holding her and singing. Lucy's got tears her eyes and Ricky just looked on top of the world.
I love that moment more than anything.

I agree with that one! It is a classic and probably the one truly real moment ever on a sitcom.

Another touching moment I really love is in "No Children Allowed." In the final scene, Mrs. Trumbull changed from a grumpy old bat to Little Ricky's babysitter for ever. Elizabeth Patterson delivered a moving little speech while the baby looked up at her, enamored. The fab four were floored and speechless. I get choked up just thinking about it. Even the audience said "Aw..."

Mrs. Trumbull: Mrs. Ricardo! You should be ashamed of yourself! Running off and leaving this poor little child alone.

To Little Ricky: Don't you worry dear. You'll always have me around to see that nobody leaves you alone again.

P.S. Check out the Lucy/Desi pillow in the crib!

That's my favorite moment as well. I get a little teary eyed every time I see it. And something about those last few seconds where Ricky is kissing her neck touches me. Or I should say Desi, not Ricky, because in those moments I think Lucy and Desi came out of character and were being themselves.

Oh there are so many, the ones mentionned so far of course and also the ones where they shared real emotions we all share as well, like leaving their friends when we move or raising kids or celebrating our anniversary in the closet, oh wait, never did that one, YET!

I agree, that is my choice. My second choice is the anniversary episode in Hollywood, when they are dancing away and you can see the love in their eyes. That is not acting.

When Ricky finds out Lucy is pregnant at the club. Hands down - one of the most touching scenes in TV history.

Gosh, I bet that's everybody's first choice. That's one of the best moments in sitcom history in general. Everything already mentioned here would make my list too; love the anniversary in the closet, but I'll pick something else...
Uuummm...I'd have to say the episode where Little Ricky was born and Ricky was there at the hospital in the savage costume...and fell over... then saw the baby and softened up. So sweet! That's good stuff when he can be all in costume and made up all scary like that and still get the fact that he was touched come through all that makeup.

I was going to say the barbecue episode when Lucy finds her ring and begins to put it on, Ricky stops her and puts it on her finger. I forgot his exact speach, something schmaltzy about putting the ring on the same way he did 15 years ago. The romantic kiss was sweet.

I like Ireneparalegal's better. Ricky singing Aniversary Waltz while they're dancing was a great scene.

Another favorite moment of mine along these lines is in "Lucy is Enceinte" when Ricky is singing "Cheek to Cheek" to Lucy. They both look so radiant and the chemistry between them and affection for one another sets the screen on fire. In that scene I think they look like the most adorable couple in the world. Too bad just moments later Lucy starts crying!

I like the one where they're all so proud of Lucy after she danced with Van Johnson, for once, Lucy the character is allowed to be good at performing and they all enjoy that thrill along with her.
