When the I Love Lucy cast was on The Bob Hope show, the Ricardo apratment had TWO, that's right, count 'em, TWO extra doors in the living room! LOL One was to the right of the window that was between the living room and kitchen, and the other one was to the left of the fireplace. I am not sure, but I don't think it was the set used on I Love Lucy at the time, with thte doors added on for The Bob Hope Show. I would post color frame-captures from the Lucy's Lost Moments DVD, but I am currently on vacation in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina: The Outer Banks. I think they might have been specially built for The Bob Hope Show. I don't think the show could have worked had those two doors not been there. It's just funny to see. Only the deepest, deepest fans know this stuff and pick up on this stuff. LOL

Ooh, Cape Hatteras, beautiful place! I love it there. As for those doors on the Bob Hope Show, I recall the one the put to the left of the fireplace was a closet where Lucy hid the seal.

Good Job Stacy. It seems we are now watching the ILL show simply for errors, goofs and set changes. Forget the dialogue and the laughs. I love it. You make it so easy to see what it is the rest of us see Stacy. Can you imagine how hard it would be trying to explain in a post the many things we see?

We see windows come and we see them go. I never even noticed the window changing to a wall in that pic of the Ricardos' bedroom. Good catch my lady. It is so true, why would there be a window there? I guess someone figured that one out and removed it and put the painting there.

I'll betcha that was Lucy's doing! She wanted to put a closet there, but when she first stripped off the plaster, she probably didn't realize she was going to hit a brick wall. But once she did and saw the mess she made, she decided to put up those closet doors anyway. But alas, open the door and no closet, just a wall! I'll bet Ricky really blew his top that day!

Maybe we can assume at that angle, there is a bit of a view outside. But looking directly out the window, you'd probably just see a brick wall. You'd have to stick your head out the window and look to the left to see beyond the wall.

Well, Ricky just didn't trust Lucy with that window there. After all, she had been known to crawl out on the ledge a couple times! So he asked Fred to close off the bedroom window. Next on his agenda was the living room window where she got into the most trouble, but they moved to Connecticut before that project could be completed.

The window in the Ricardo bedroom looks like it would lead only to the hallway.

Hey, NOVARick!

Yes, Cape Hatteras is a beautiful place! I love it here, too. Yes. that's correct! The one they put to the left of the fireplace was a closet where Lucy hid the seal. The other one I mentioned was to the right of the desk. It was sort of a closet also. Bob Hope (Ricky Ricardo) opens up the door to the left of the fireplace and a ball rolls out. He exchanges lines with Lucy and rolls the ball into the other door to the right of the desk.

I agree, it's great to have somebody here who's able to post screen shots for us all to take a look at. It's very helpful when I can't remember a particular scene somebody's talking about and Madame X comes to the rescue!

After Little Ricky was born there were nine more episodes in the first apartment. Part of the reason Lucy wanted to move was because they needed a room for Little Ricky.

They moved toward the end of season 2, and Little Ricky was portrayed by toddlers Michael and Joseph Mayer through season 5. Keith Thibodeaux only played Little Ricky starting in season 6. They moved to the country in the middle of season 6.

And as an infant, Little Ricky was played by Richard and Ronald Simmons.

Speaking of the Simmons twins (the infant Little Ricky) and the Mayer twins (Little Ricky as a toddler), note that in episode 65 ("Ricky's Life Story"), Little Ricky appears as a toddler, played by the Mayer twins. Two episodes later, episode 67 ("Never Do Business with Friends") he is suddenly an infant again (played by the Simmons twins)! The reason is that "Ricky's Life Story," although shot before "Never Do Business with Friends," which aired in the second season, was held back from being aired until the third season. And because the Mayer twins were playing Little Ricky in the third season, they inserted into that episode some new shots with the Mayer twins. But in syndication, with the episodes being aired in the order they were filmed, it looks rather strange.

Hey have we ever wondered what was stored behind the door in the kitchen? The back must have been against the hall. I wondered if it went downstairs or just held brooms and mops.
