Question What is so special abt the front door and the hallway all of a sudden?

Ok, TVLand aired 4 episodes in a row yesterday and each episode had a common theme going on here that I never noticed before. When you see back to back to back episodes, you are bound to notice something like what I noticed.

These are the four episodes that were shown:

LITTLE RICKY'S PAGEANT
THE LOVING CUP
LUCY AND SUPERMAN
LITTLE RICKY WANTS A DOG

Ok, now if you watch these episodes you will notice that for some reason all of a sudden the front door to the Ricardo's apt. is left open for whatever reason, either someone opened it and it remained open for some time or someone walked in and it was left open. Now, I also notice the hallway all of a sudden has a painting hanging on the wall and there is a table there as well. Those two things were never seen together from the view of the Ricardo's living room. It is as if the set decorator put those things there and for whatever reason, it was decided to leave the front door open so the audience could see the hallway and those two items. I find it weird that the front door after all these episodes suddenly is left open.

Not only that, today TVland aired the next two episodes, LUCY WANTS TO MOVE TO THE COUNTRY and LUCY HATES TO LEAVE. Again, that front door is left open for some time in those two episodes and we see that view in the hallway again.

For the life of me, I don't know if it is a coincidence or if there was a hidden reason/meaning for that to occur.

Ok, tell me I am crazy or weird for noticing that, but I couldn't help it.

I've noticed that too and wondered why. The cast just seems to ignore it! I'll check it out and see if there is a reason we are overlooking.

Can you tell me Stacy if also the set was painted a darker color? The show is black and white of course, but I seemed to notice the door frame was a darker shade than the previous episodes (pre-Florida). For a split second it looks like new molding, but it could be they just painted them darker. It looks like the frames and the squares that cover the wall are a darker shade.

I think they painted it darker.

The only thing this photo does is emphasize the fact that there is no hallway to the left, where Madame X escaped! And if Fred was so cheap, why would they have unneeded furniture decorating the hallway? That table looks better than anything they had in their own apartment!

The door is wide open, we can see Fred's shadow and hand as he approaches.

So why would he have to open the door one frame later?

I've heard about an "open door policy," but this is really bugging me. There must be a reason for them to all of a sudden start leaving their door open.

Thanks for the photos. They bring up another question for me. In the Superman episode, on the wall behind Lucy, don't I remember seeing a window into the vacant apartment? If so, then it would be impossible for that hallway in the Madame X episode to exist. Also, have you ever noticed that, in the sixth season, a window suddenly appears on the right side of Lucy and Ricky's bedroom? In the previous seasons, there was a solid wall there.

Yep! Both of those points came up in an earlier thread. We were all chiming in as to the impossibilities of the building's layout and how windows, doors, balconies, floors and hallways don't make sense at all! It is amazing how any of them found their way out onto the street!

Awesome photos Stacy. Again, thanx for taking the time to post them here. "Open door policy"... How abt, "These doors are to remain unlocked during business hours." And in this case, "unlocked AND OPEN".

You are so correct, why would Fred put a nice table out there like that? What purpose would it serve?

And it does emphasize there is no hallway to the left, which we always knew couldn't be there. As we see in the Superman episode, the view from the ledge tells us this fact. Also note, in the Superman episode, the vacant apartment window is situated so close to the Ricardo's living room window. How can that be with the hallway right outside the Ricardo's door and that supposed stairway we seen a few times in other episodes?

Yeah, what was all that "fix the locks" for when here they are leaving that damn WIDE OPEN for everyone to enter. You'd think with what happened after Madame X entered the Ricardos' apt., they would be more careful abt leaving that door open.

Yoo hoo, Madame X...come on in!!!!!

Let's see, how could this work? Maybe it's an L-shaped hallway? So when Fred headed down that hallway, the hallway took an immediate -- and I mean immediate -- turn to the right. If Fred hadn't made that immediate turn, he would have gone through the wall into that other apartment. As for the wall in the photo where there once was a hallway, perhaps Fred got worried that it was an easy escape route for burglars and sealed it up. (Yeah, right.)
