Do you believe there are more 1-season wonders nowadays on television, or back in the 70's and 80's? I definitely believe today. Most new shows every season are cancelled by the end of the season, and the one's that do return may only make it for another season. Network's expectations are way too high today. With the decline of TV viewers over the years, the big networks can't be expecting 15-20 million for every new show, which is what they do.
Then, back in the 70's and 80's most new shows were hits. There were the few shows that weren't hits, but that was only because no one at all was wathcing them. Definitely more big hits 20 years ago than there are today. |
