Default Thoughts on the Season 3 Premiere

I thought it was ok. The prison scenes were good but I thought the scenes with Joy taking care of Randy were a little weak. Randy's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he can certainly cross the street on his own. Seems like they're starting to turn him into a cartoon character and that's not a good thing, IMO, hopefully that will change. I thought it was brilliant that they brought back Sonny! He was the one who played Beer Can Tag with Earl in the Pilot and he hadn't been heard from again until last night's episode.

After last seasons shocking finale, I wasn't sure where the show was going. I figured Earl would get out of jail in the season 3 premiere, but it looks like he's going to be in there for a while, should be an interesting season and I can't wait to see next week's episode.

I finished watching season two today on DVD and I taped the season three premiere and watched it today. That's right! I didn't have to wait all summer for this episode, lol.

As for the episode, I enjoyed it. Especially the ending. This is turning into one of my favorite shows.

I know what you mean about Randy. He's going in that exaggerated sitcom character route such as Screech, Matthew Brock, Eric Forman and others.

To be honest, the thought of a whole episode with Earl in prison wasn't what I wanted to see. But I liked the episode. I still hope he gets out soon, but for now, it's still entertaining.

As for Sonny, in the commentary for the pilot, they all seemed to love the character of Sonny, so I was surprised that it took them this long to bring him back. But it made for a nice surprise.

I doubt that Earl will be in prison forever, mostly because you can't separate him from the rest of the ensamble, where the show is the funniest.

Still, Earl is such an amicable guy I am glad he decided not to be "invisible" and has started to work his magic with his fellow inmates.

And yes, Randy has really become a dummy. I hope he doesn't wind up in jail with Earl.

My favorite part was when Earl and Sonny were trying to be 'invisible' and kept hiding behind the two fat guys.

I also wanted to add that I was a little disappointed that Ralph 'escaped'. He's my favorite recurring character and I was looking forward to seeing him and Earl in prison, but the addition of Sonny made up for that.

I hope not either cause it would kinda be like those sitcoms where the main characters on a show go someplace and the next door neighbor(s) just happens to be there too. That sort of thing may work on some sitcoms, but I expect more from Earl, it would just look silly and stupid, IMO.

I loved the season premiere but agree with everyone else. Randy had just gotten so dumb, it's pathetic. lol Yea I think Earl is going to be in jail for awhile. I read that Craig T. Nelson is going to be playing the Warden.

It was a good premiere and I really enjoyed it. I got a laugh out of that guy trying to dig under the fence to get to Earl and Earl kicking the dirt back with his feet. I also agree with everyone about Randy but I figure they were trying to show how lost he was without Earl. They kind of over did it though. lol!

I thought it was good; but I agree that they overdid it with Randy.

I admit, Randy is not that stupid. But he has been depending on his brother for so long, that when he was gone, the basic things he forgot. I didn't see anything wrong with the premiere. I love that show alot. And it's been a good season by far

Would have been better if they'd done what what they did on Married With Children when Peggy was pregnant which is to have had everything from Joy stealing the truck to Earl going to jail to be nothing more than Earl having a bad dream because this show is jumping the shark.

I don't think so; it's still good and still funny. They overdid it with Randy in the premier but that's all.
