Madderest Mistrial in Phil Spector Murder Trial

By LINDA DEUTSCH, AP Special Correspondent
2 hours ago

LOS ANGELES - The murder trial of music producer Phil Spector ended in a mistrial Wednesday because of a deadlocked jury.

All jurors told Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler they could not reach a verdict.

"At this time, I will find that the jury is unable to arrive at a verdict and declare a mistrial in this matter," the judge said.

The mistrial came on the 12th day of deliberations on whether Spector murdered actress Lana Clarkson more than 4 1/2 years ago.

The foreman reported the panel was deadlocked 10 to 2 but did not indicate which way it was leaning. The jury reported a 7-5 impasse last week and had resumed deliberations with modified instructions.

Spector, 67, is charged with second-degree murder. Clarkson, 40, died when a gun went off in her mouth as she sat in a chair in the foyer of Spector's Alhambra mansion about 5 a.m. on Feb. 3, 2003. She had met Spector just a few hours earlier at her job as a nightclub hostess and went home with him for a drink after work.

DAMN BASTARDS!!!! I knew it. The simple fact they can't decipher "reasonable doubt" from simple "doubt" tells me how stupid they are.

I also forsee O.J. getting off the hook from those robbery charges.

Actually only 45 minutes away...

Man, I wish sometimes I could do something that would change the way things are...you know, like hiring a sniper or sharpshooter.

Unfortunately Irene, a lot of people can't tell reasonable doubt from simple doubt. LOL! Having worked in the legal profession before my current one, that was the one thing that ticked me off about the judicial system. Sometimes, I think they should require a degree of some sort to be able to sit on a jury.

The man is a dope and from everything I've heard/read he is as guilty as sin. But because he is famous (maybe in his own mind) the jury thinks that he can't possibly be guilty.

Don't forget how rich the guy is. All the money he gets from song royalties alone (i.e. "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", "To Know Him is to Love Him", "Da Do Run Run", to name but a few) - it's mindboggling.

I know what you mean.

The jury was 10-2 with those 10 favoring guilty. DAMNIT! I am just hoping that this time around the prosecution brings in credible witnesses such as singer/actress Michelle Phillips (Mamas and the Papas) because she too had a gun pulled on her by that bastard. Also, Deborah Harry from Blondie also had a gun pulled on her. THIS TIME THE PROSECUTION CAN LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND BRING IN BETTER WITNESSES and also, bring in more expert witnesses to state that Lana was not suicidal. The defense painted Lana as some crazy person simply because she had some issues in her life. My God, millions of people have issues in their lives, some more than others, but they don't contemplate suicide!

WHY WOULD SPECTOR STATE: "I THINK I KILLED SOMEONE?" if she committed suicide? STUPID!!!!
