Call me what you will, but ever since I was little, I have always been in love with the Ricardo's New York City apartment(s). I thought it was quaint and cozy. I wanted to stay/live there myself. It is also one of my favorite, if not my favorite sets of all time, from the living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. I got real excited when I was told that they were part of the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Tour. I loved the way they looked and were replicated. I know it was roped off and all, but I wish they would have allowed people to take pictures themselves on the sets. I mean, how cool would it be to have your photo taken in the Ricardo apartment. That would have been a great photo opportunity. They could have made money and charged for it. I know this is part of the Lucy-Desi museum in Jamestown, New York, now. But, this would be a great way to raise money for the museum and a great way for the museum to raise money. Of course, there will have to be rules and regulations, etc. I think it would not only be cool to do the picture thing, but how about a guided/non guided tour of the set(s) as well. They can have a photographer or cameras set up to take the pictures. Now, here's the kicker. It would be cool to do the picture thing by itself, right? Well, how cool would it be if they transposed the picture from color to black and white, and superimposed you with Lucy, Ricky, Fred, Ethel, etc.? How cool would that be? Like, you could have choices. Color with or without charachters/black and white with and without characters. I think it would be a great way to raise a lot of money for the museum.

Anyway, I so went totally off topic and in another direction in which I was headed. LOL

I don't know if this can be done or not, but I'd love to replicate the Ricardo's New York Apartment as it was on the show and/or on the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary tour. I know it would take time, money and careful planning, but it's something I'd love to do. I know it's something that will give me great joy. If I could, I'd like to so all of the props, set pieces, furniture, pictures, etc. I know it sounds stupid and over the top, but would a regular contractor do this? Or, do you think I could get in touch with the people who built the one for the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary Tour? Can this be done?

I'd love to find the blueprints/floorplans that they used either on the show or the I Love Lucy 50th Anniversary tour.

As far as how the apt. looked, I just loved it. I mean the second apt. they moved into with Little Ricky. I too found it quaint, cozy and just overall CLEAN!

Like Madame X I believe pointed out one time, you never knew they had a child in that place because there were no toys laying around. Hell, there was not even any family pics!

But when I was younger I thought the place was so cute.

I think it would be great to be able to visit the apartment. Taking pictures would be an added bonus. It would be so much fun to get into poses to recreate a Lucy moment and have a picture taken. They could have someone guiding visitors through the apartment and have a photographer taking the photos like they do at Disneyland or other theme attractions.

The project could only include the interior of the apartment, though, because as soon as you step out the door the building doesn't make sense. Even a crack architect like Mike Brady would be scratching his head.

I couldn't agree more! It would be fun to reenact/recreate a Lucy moment and have your picture taken, maybe with manaquins/wax figures of the cast members or maybe some impersonators. So, being that you're Madame X, are we going to reenact the time when you broke into the Ricardo apartment & go into the closet to steal Ricky's Mother's silver? LOL I think they'd frown upon that, especially if you were chased around the couch! "Why, Ethel Mertz! Why, Ethel Mertz!" LOL

It doesn't sound stupid at all, there is a couple I forget where but they had a replica house of the Munster's built it cost $250,000 complete with staircase, dungeon and replica furnishings. A contractor would do it, it might cost a pretty penny but it can be done. I myself would love to own a replica house of Bewitched.

Oh, wow! Really? I didn't know about that couple you mentioned, having a replica of the Munster's house built. That is just so awesome and cool!

What do you think it would cost? I mean, I know you're not a contractor and all, but do you think it would cost as much as $250.000? It doesn't matter either way. I was just curious.

I'd have to go with replica furnishing's, too. I don't think today's decor would look right. I can't picture a high definition television set in there, could you? LOL

I'd love to have a console/floor model television set, like they had. I want the best of both worlds, so maybe I could have it built. How about a high definition television set, with a VCR & DVD player built in? Cool, right?

During our festival weekends (Late May and early August) we host an “I Love Lucy” Legend Event as one of the festival activities. The event includes a continental breakfast, a meet and greet with an “I Love Lucy” VIP, a professionally shot color photo of the ticket holder and the “I Love Lucy” VIP on the set, followed by a q & a with the VIP in a recreation of the Tropicana Nightclub.

In the past the actor who played “Little Ricky” as well as the actress who played “Marion Strong” have been our VIP guest of honors for these events.

This is the only time we offer photos on the set.

We do not have any information on a contractor as you outlined.

I'm not sure what it would cost, but you could check with the people who replicated the set and see how much it cost. I have always liked their furnature, especially the new set Lucy bought that she couldn't afford. I have a Lucy phone like the one she used, got it from ebay.

Has anyone seen this replica of the "I Love Lucy" set at Universal Studios? This is from the Lucy museum in Orlando. I was at the one in California and don't remember seeing this, but of course that was years ago. Maybe they have it now.

I don't remember seeing it in CA either, but that was about 10 years ago. Hey Irene, have you been there lately?

I was at the Lucy Tribute at Universal Studios Hollywood a few months ago and they have a replica of the living room and Lucy & Desi's ranch home. It's behind glass so you can't touch anything and there is a phone you listen to Lucie Arnaz talking about various stories. They also have Lucy's emmys, costumes, dresses and other memoriabilia.
