Interesting mix of shorts, feature films and television shows. Yeah, I would
agree with most of them. There's 14, though, that I've never heard of (could be
some of them are British programs or movies).

surprisingly, alvin and the chipmunks is not on the list and of which is one of my personal favourites. i think that if this had been voted for by north americans, as opposed to the brits that show would've featured highly on that list. btw, i didn't vote unfortunately at the time

i find it strange that Spirited Away was there but not the studio's masterpiece Princess Mononoke...not to mention Evangelion, a MUCH better "end of the World" anime than the highly overated Akira!
And HOW is something as lame as Wallace & Gromit on the list, but Inuyasha isnt?

mikado, princess mononoke is on the list- it is at no. 21 above monsters inc and below looney toons. also, the anime that you've mentioned is not in the top 100, probably because not many british based anime fans are familiar with it or have heard of it. i agree with you though that wallace and gromit is overrated

Hmmm, interesting list. I like the fact that "Nightmare B4 Xmas" is so high, it's indeed a classic, but whether or not it's a "cartoon" is debatable. Animated, yes, but cartoon?...

How the hell did Queer Duck make it on there?

i understand where you are coming from, but if that is debatable then the same should apply to wallace and gromit as it is not considered a 'cartoon' either. as for queer duck, i laughed when it was on the list. i guess fans of the show voted it in the top 100 and yet like many people i'd never heard of it

my personal favourite top ten cartoons of all-time are:

1) Alvin and The Chipmunks (1983)
2) Thundercats (1985)
3) Denver The Last Dinoasaur (1988)
4) Yogi's Treasure Hunt (1985)
5) Johnny Bravo (1995/97)
6) Freakazoid (1995)
7) Galaxy High (1986)
8) The Mysterious Cities of Gold (1982)
9) Heathcliff Cats and Co (1984)
10) Muppet Babies (1984)

i loved many of the old classic hanna barbera and warner bros. toons, yet alas i was born in the 80s and there were so many great shows out during that decade, which is why all but two of the shows i've listed on here are from the 80s.

that is my top 10 favourite cartoons. what would your list be if you were to compile it?

1- Princess Monoke ( As high art, rather than as a cartoon )
2- Evangellion
3- Inuyasha
4- Ranma 1/2 ( seasons 1 & 2 only )
5- Sailor Moon ( Only uncut in Japanese though...the American DIC butchjob sucks! )
6- Urusei Yatsura
7- Slayers ( Next )
8- King of the Hill
9- The Simpsons ( This would have been higher 10 years ago )
10- Robot Chicken

i have to say i am not a huge fan of anime. most of it is either great or good, and some of it isn't. i also think its unfair that chinese and korean versions of anime are overlooked in favour of the japanese's. there's a chinese equivalent called manhua and personally speaking, i think the artwork is far more impressive than japan's manga, but that's just me. here are two links that might interest you:

Nice art ...Similar to manga , but maybe a little less "cartoony", i notice the characters dont look nearly as occidental as those in manga.

its a lot less 'cartoony' and more detailed and almost life-like. if you compare the artwork and graphics of manhua with manga, you can tell straight away that there are not that many similarities between the two styles.

i wish manhua was just as popular and well known as manga itself
