Anyway he fell in love with Thelma Lou on that episode

I think his character was called Jeff. That was another good episode of the show.
He was going around Mayberry lifting up all the ladies trying to find a wife.

Thanks the first name helped as it was Big Jeff Pruitt

I saw him on an Episode of Gunsmoke and Bonanza and he had an irish accent on Gunsmoke and a swedish accent on Bonanza.

Bob Denver called him the "The Gentle Giant"
