Social Matters

Starring Hugh Laurie and Wendie Malick as a upper middle class family living in San Francisco. Hugh Laurie plays Jack Clarksen, a Press Secretary for the Mayor of San Francisco, Glenn Foster (Dabney Coleman). Jack's eccentric and neurotic wife, Monica Clarksen (Wendie Malick), who works as San Francisco's most successful modeling agent. Jack and Monica have three beautiful children: Spencer Clarksen, 20 (Zac Efron), Lorelei Clarksen, 17 (Joanna Levesque), and Tara Clarksen, 15 (Miley Cyrus). Spence is your average hormonal 20-year-old guy, who is interested in girls, money, cars, sex, sports, and more girls. Lorelei is the popular junior girl who is co-captain of her cheerleading squad and is very much a fashionista. Tara is a boy-crazied, naive former-bookworm who so badly wants to make a name for herself and escape from the shadows of her popular older siblings and well-to-do parents. Spence falls for the new gorgeous front desk receptionist at Monica's modeling agency, Brianna Wallace (Megan Fox)-who decides to manipulate and "use" Spence to her advantage (in hopes of getting a modeling contact with his mom's agency). Mayor Foster's much-younger, beautiful golddigging wife, Brooke (Tiffani Amber Theissen) makes new waves when she discovers another man--Jack, who is flattered yet perplexed by Brooke's numerous seduction attempts, which makes her more and more determined to bed Jack. Also, Jack isn't the only Clarksen to become tempted when Monica herself finds herself falling for new hunky underwear model, Aiden Brandt (Channing Tatum), who is very flirtatious with Monica--and Lorelei as well, which will lead to problems later in the season between mother and daughter. In addition to the situation, Monica is often pitted against her longtime rival modeling agent, Gavin DiMarco (Stanley Tucci) who is ruthless and arrogant (a perfect match for Monica) who will stop at nothing to be the best modeling agent there is.
