Question Unsolicited Text Message Advice

I need some advice on how to deal with unsolicited text messages that I have been receiving 12 days ago. I know you must all be thinking, "You waited 12 days?!" Well...let me explain the timeline here.

On Wednesday, September 5th, I received four picture messages with the subject line reading something along the lines of "Emily." I thought, "Huh??? Who the heck is this?!" I opened up only one of them and noticed it was a topless woman. Ugh! I knew then it was porn! The other three are left unopened, but it annoy me how my phone keeps showing the little "new picture message icon" because I have not opened the other three pictures. These messages were coming one after another, so I figured I was probaly a wrong number or something. I didn't bother to reply or tell this person off.

Five days later, I received a text message from this same number saying, "hey whats up hahahahahahahahahaha *my babe is hot*" Okay...I am pissed....again. I continue to ignore this.

Last Tuesday, I receive another picture, but I do not open it. The title of this one is "emily's tits." I think to myself, "Um...no thanks! I can just look in the mirror if I wanna look at tits!" Again, I am freakin' pissed already!

Today, I received two texts. One of them I received earlier today at work where it says, "Im so ****in bord *my babe is HOT!!*" The *my babe is HOT!!* appears to be their signature.

Okay...I have had ENOUGH! I call T-Mobile and ask them if I can find out who this person is. It's a T-Mobile number. They tell they can't release the info because it's confidential towards its customers. I asked to get my number blocked, and the man told me they can't block numbers. ARGH!!! My option would be to change numbers for a $15 fee. I don't wanna change numbers, so I didn't get it done. Another suggestion the man gave me was to file a police report to trace this dude. Will the police really take this seriously? It's not death or serious threats. Our police department sucks, to be honest. My report would probably just be filed and put away for months. I was also suggested not to reply and/or send messages to this dude. I haven't sent one, but I was THIS close to responding, "So...jerk off to your Emily and get a life, dude!" I was sooo tempted!

Just about 30 minutes ago, I receive another text that says, "Hey r u going to the fair tomorrow?" WTF????

The number is 1-505-730-7523 (No, I don't care to openly post this number because if this number gets spammed, I could care less! The dude deserves it so much!).

Now...any advice on how to deal with this bozo? I get 400 texts a month, and if this dude keeps sending me texts, then they go in that plan, and he is wasting them! I hate that! What's odd is this is always the SAME number. So, it's a regular person. It's not a spammed company or anythng. What do you guys suggest? This is pissing me off soooo much! Any advice?

Whoa! I wonder who is this loser. I had a problem with this for the past year, and yes, i also have t-mobile. It's stupid that cell phone companies can't block these losers phone numbers, but I think you should give the police a try. If this person keeps bothering you that is what you have to do.

I had in the past when to my local police station and they helped me out a great deal. Or, have a friend or family member look at this jerk's text messaging, I did that and my husband actually called the dude's number and basically scared him off.

Cell phones, another annoyance!

Thank you, FactoryGirl.

Wow! I am truly disappointed about the little response I got concerning harrassing text messages! I would think this would be more common, so I was hoping to get more advice and/or suggestions over this. It sucks.

I thought this would get more response too. Truthfully, harrassing text messages do happen more than you think.

I can only speak for myself, but the problem is that your post is too long. When I see a post that looks like a short story from Readers Digest, I close it out. You wondered and I'm only giving you my opinion. You got a good amount of views. That tells you something. My advice with your problem would be to spend whatever it takes to change your number since the company won't block the harasser's number. It's money well spent and solves your problem.

It is a shame you have to pay more money to block out that loser, but it is worth the aggravation. I mean, why continue to get this person's unwanted messages? It will be blocked and he will move on to someone else.

As for the police, you'd be surprised what can be done. I thought the same thing too abt "harassment via cell phones, my space, etc."? But, it if is done continuosly, it is something that can't be overlooked. It takes one person to start the ball rolling and it may have to start with you to bring the police into this matter. Back in the days when I had a pager (beeper) I was being harassed with messages by my ex-husband and the police did take a report and it worked to my advantage when I eventually got a restraining order.
