Default A new look?

Does anyone ever wish the Kramdens apartment would have been a little more -decorated-? Maybe I've just gotten spoiled by I Love Lucy but as I was watching an episode of The Honeymooners last month I -for the first time ever- found myself getting bored with the old apartment (not the show).
I know the reasons behind the "poor" looking apartment and I still think this is the best show to ever air.. but still I would of liked to have seen maybe a little change in the apartment. Like in "Funny Money" when Ralph re-decorates for Alice.. I think Jackie should have kept it that way. I also wish some scenes would have taken place in the bedroom. There's a lot of funny things they could have done with that plus it would have given an occasional change of scenery.

Anyone else have opinions on the apartment or bedroom?

I have many times had the same thoughts about the Kramden's apartment.
Especially in "Funny Money", I wish they would have left the apartment the way it was decorated. It seems that if they would have done that then they would have been equal with the Norton's in terms of having a nice place to live. Even though Ed Norton worked in a sewer I always thought that he had a nice apartment to come home to. Also, I do agree with you, they should have showed the Kramden's bedroom. There could have been many funny situations that could have been created had they included it.

Default my take

Well I for one liked the fact that they were simple.. if the apartment had been fixed up.. we would have never gotten the one liners like "this place looks like yucca flats after the Blast" or how about this gem.. (speaking on living in a tent with ralph) "I'd still be willing! I think it' be an improvement! We would have never had the episode tv or not tv! funny money would not have been so funny! And like jackie said he wanted it to be like it was when he was really growing up in brooklyn! thats how he lived! also.. Like we all know that jackie didn't want a phone in the house because then the writers would get lazy and use it as a crutch!.. In the end Im thankful for both the simplicity and the familiarity of the whole set! just my opinion!
P.S. How could we ever have survived if they had a refrigirator and never got to hear old true blue norton say: "I'm not sure but I think that ice box might be early ma and pa kettle! lol Just a
jealous observation™

They were supposed to be a low-income family, and Ralph was uber-cheap to boot, i think the apartment carried out that idea perfectly. You couldnt have that show, without that apartment, IMHO. ( They went together like back-bacon and hash browns )

Yes I loved the Norton's apartment! It was cute and simple and just perfect for a couple. Thanks for sharing your opinion. It's great to have ya back around these parts

Great post Erin!
I have often had some of the same feelings of curiosity. One day I will remodel their kitchen, bedroom and bath. Just for fun. I do agree with Garrity though. It keeps you wondering, so I'm glad they did it that way.
Here are some pics of what I have been playing with in their kitchen, he he...
