Default The KKK episode

In the seventh season episode Sorry, Wrong Meeting, when George, Tom and Bentley found out they were attending a KKK meeting, they were shocked.

It didn't look like the other tenants were shocked, and when they noticed George found out what kind of meeting it was, it didn't look like they came to the realization that it was a KKK meeting. Is it possible that George's building was full of closet racists?

What do you guys think?

Probably so, especially during that time.

Yes, I have. It's on the Columbia House Jeffersons video collection unedited!

BTW, TVLand's version hacked a lot of stuff on this one.

That's probably why it looked like the "Tenents" were shocked to find out that it was a KKK meeting. --- Earlier in the episode, Tom stops by The Jeffersons to mention the meeting to Bentley, Weezy & George because his and several other people's apts were robbed - they'd want to hold a tenent meeting -- later on Tom meets the KKK man and his son in the elevator -- thinking they're talking about the tennent meeting -- they're actually talking about the KKK meeting that they're going to hold.

The other part that was cut out was the opening scenes where Florence & Weezy prepare to go down to the meeting...and George doesn't want to because he already learned CPR from work. ---> That's why he knew what to do when he saves the KKK leader's life.

One of my favorite episodes.

Hopefully we'll see Season 7 soon!!

I think those scenes were in the TV land version, unless some minor dialogue was snipped out.

Yes, I remember it vividly when it first aired. And it touched on something not really noticed about George Jefferson. For all his huffing and puffing and posturing as a little pr*ck, beneath it all he had a heart of gold. It blew me away how he saved the klansman'slife. Another kind moment of George's is when he helps the pregnant gang member who goes into labor while she has a gun pointed on him. His first instinct is to help her rather than take advantage of the situation.

I remember the episode when it aired. IIRC, when the Klansman found out that George had saved his life by performing CPR, he said something to the effect of, "You should have let me die!" WOW.

That wasn't the KKK episode, that was The Strays about the female gang jumping George. That scene was hilarious though, cause he yelled at her....classic George.
