"Firing Line"

This made-for-TV movie takes place in Chicago, where a young reporter named Alison Barrett at ficticious independent station WGSH gets an unusual task for one of her first tryouts...investigating allegations as to whether or not Sing It, America (takeoff off American Idol) is fixed following allegations from a series of contestants who lost to (seemingly) less talented people. She then tries out and manages to advance to Hollywood. But will her possible expose be uncovered before she can get the facts?
