Default Question for Sonny, SkyWalker, and Diemond about Tony Romo getting a New Deal

I discovered this new cowboys message board which is the best called the Cowboys Zone. Anyway there was a discussion on there about WHEN Romo should be signed to a new deal? I said when Dallas reaches the playoffs and win-lol What do yall think?

Players get rewarded with new deals when the team bebefits from their performance not when he has GOOD STATS and the team is not in the playoffs

I disagree, if a qb has good stats consistently, you sign him. The qb is doing his job, it's the other parts of the team that are failing.

Good Stats should result in a playoff game. The Eagles signed mcnabb because he led the team to the NFC championship in just 2 seasons as a starter QB. Tony romo has done nothing yet, he hasn't faced the Bears Defense yet, and has yet to beat the Top team in the Division the Eagles. So I will say if Dallas MAKES the playoffs, a playoff win would be even better

If Romo continues to play like he has been then he'll get a big deal. He played great Sunday but if they would have lost it would have been the defenses fault, not Romo's. Dallas plays Chicago next week so we'll finally see him against a top notch defense. He did beat the Colts last year though.

Like I told them on the ZONE-lol It's too early to wonder when Romo will get his new deal.

The Cowboys had to make an emergency stop in New Orleans.

Cowboys Charter Makes Unscheduled Landing

NEW ORLEANS -- The Dallas Cowboys' charter flight to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Saturday afternoon was forced to make an unscheduled landing here about 3 p.m. (CDT) because of a mechanical problem.

The plane landed without incident, although, according to official procedure, at least five emergency vehicles lined the runway at the New Orleans International Airport. The plane never was in jeopardy.

The emergency landing was caused by one of the three hydraulic systems malfunctioning, and mechanics on the ground were attempting to fix the problem. But in the meantime, American Airlines was sending another plane from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to New Orleans just in case the club had to change planes to continue the trip to Fort Lauderdale International Airport. The plane has been on the ground nearly an hour at this time.

The Cowboys are scheduled to meet the Miami Dolphins at 3:05 p.m. (CDT) at Dolphin Stadium on Sunday in the second game of the season. The Cowboys head into the game with a 1-0 record, having beaten the Giants in the opener while the Dolphins lost their opener, 16-13 to Washington.

IMO, it's too early in the season for Dallas to give Romo a new contract. He had a great game last Sunday, probably the best one he's had so far, but I think they should wait until at least midseason and see where the Cowboys are in the standings. If they're 8-0 or 7-1 or whatever, they should give him a new deal right away, but if they're in last place in their division, they should wait until after the season ends. Even if the Cowboys don't make the playoffs, they won't find a better QB than Romo and they'd be wise to give him a new deal.

I would say a 2 year deal if the Cowboys miss the playoffs and draft a QB out the Draft.
