Default Where were you when 9/11 happened?

When 9/11 happened I was at work and they had a TV at the library which I work at and it was on the Fox News Channel. I saw on the TV that the airplane hit one of the Twin Tower buildings and the World Trade Center.

I was working......someone from upstairs said that the World Trade Centre had "fallen into the Hudson River", almost casually, so naturally we all thought it was some kind of joke..............until i got in the car after work, turned on my radio and instead of music, started hearing the reports. I went home and watched CNN in awed wonder and shock. The weirdest part though, was the next day, when, the skies over Welland were totally devoid of planes! I live under the flightpaths of 3 airports <Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo> and the skies over my house are almost never empty of at LEAST a contrail.....but, that day, not only was the sky empty of planes, it was empty of clouds; it seemed as if the Earth was standing still! It was so quiet and eerie!

I was home watching TV. I was watching the Windsor, Ontario TV station which I turned on while channel surfing at at first, I thought that the video of the Twin Towers was footage from a movie.

I then channel surfed some more, and I saw the footage of the WTC on other channels.

When the attacks actually HAPPENED, I was in a math class (it was my last year of college). A classmate gave me a ride home - we did not have the radio on, so we were completely ignorant as to what was going on. I went to the basement to surf the web and turned on the radio while I waited for the computer to boot up. There were two reporters talking all over each other and I couldn't make heads or tails of what they were saying. I decided to go upstairs and turn the TV on. What I saw was so surreal. I saw one Twin Tower standing and was like, what happened to the other one? To my complete horror, I saw the second Tower fall live. I called my sister (who was in college in PA), and once my family members came home later on in the evening, we were all in shock. No one could say anything. This went on for a few days, actually. Our cats even picked up on the tension. None of us were mad at each other, but how DO you react in a situation like that? I can't believe it's been 6 years. THAT seems unreal...and that yellow-bellied, murdering coward Bin Laden is still on the loose...

Red face At Work

I was at work and when I heard about it; I was pretty shocked.
I will in shock for at least a couple of weeks. To this day, I think about it from time to time and feel so sad and bad for all those affected by it.

Madderest

I was working part-time at a post office. For me, it was another day off-I wasn't needed for assistance that day. At approximately 9:00 a.m., I turned on the TV and was flipping through the channels. Then suddenly, I saw New York's Twin Towers burning. I initially thought a major fire broke out in one of the towers, but those things don't just happen. Short time later, I learned two jet airliners were hijacked and were run into the towers. A short time later, they also broke the news that another jet airliner crashed into the Pentagon, damaging it. And to top it off, they broke news about yet another jet airliner going down, miles outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If TJ can excuse what I'm about to say, otherwise, he can edit this post, but it wasn't hard to figure out that zealot bastard, Osama bin Laden, masterminded these attacks. God-willing may we capture or kill the SOB-he's the epitamy of pure evil and hate. Speaking of which, this has to be unquestionably the most heinous hate crime to ever be commited in history. For the 9/11 victims, may they all rest in peace. As for Osama bin Laden, may Hades take his piece of crap hide.

I'd just started college for the first time in 2001 (I think it was my first semester too). I had my first class in the morning, then came home to watch talk shows for a bit. I turned on channel 11 thinking Maury would be on, then I saw the broadcast about the first WTC tower being hit by a plane. At first I was just thinking it was some freak accident. However, when the broadcast was interrupted with the news that the 2nd tower had been hit by another plane, I started freaking out. I knew something was horribly, horribly wrong but had no idea what was going on. I remained glued to the t.v. for most of the morning, then I called my friend (who was working at a local flower shop at the time) and she came to pick me up while she was doing her deliveries. I just didn't want to be alone (I truly thought it was the end of the world or something).

I can distinctly remember waiting outside for my friend to come get me and noticing how peaceful the neighborhood was at that hour. It just disturbed me to think that while everything was so serene on Long Island, there was utter chaos only an hour and half away from me. I'll never forget that.

6th grade homeroom/history 1st period secretary came running down the hall, ask the teacher to come out in the hall she told him, he ran in turned the TV on told us to watch, then on comerical he turned it down and told us what was going on (as much as he knew at least) all we did in school that day was watch the news I was freakin out all day because I thought my real dad was in D.C that day. I got home and he called that night from San. Fransisco. Turns out he had taken the same flight as one othe planes that hit the Towers on the day before (THANK GOD!!!) It may have been six years ago and I was only 11 but I remember it like it was yesterday. and yesterday I got really pissed off at a freshman in one of my classes. A classmate brought in a DVD of images from 9/11 and all of us wanted to watch it except for this freshman who sat in front of me, he turned around to me and said "Who cares this happened 6 years ago, its done, its over, lets forget about it" I got so pissed at him.
