Does anyone else think that Bill Kurtis of A&E Fame is the logical choice for a new host. He has it down pat! He can raise an eyebrow and make you think the way that Robert Stack could do it. He also has a great background for it.
John Walsh is too 'vigilante', but I think Bill Kurtis is the ticket! |

I'm a huge Bill Kurtis fan, but I don't think he would host unless he was also an executive producer.

If he can cut down on the bobblehead mannerisms, he would be a great
successor- but thats a big if. |

I thought it was just me. I swear dude dances the robot everytime he's on camera discussing a Cold Case File or an American Justice. He reminds me of: ![]() But with less rhythm |

Besides, America's Most Wanted and UM have already been mistaken for each other enough times as it is. So the idea of both shows sharing the same host would merely add to the confusion. That's also one of the reasons why I don't think a Bill Kurtis-hosted UM would work. Some of his own shows, including Cold Case Files, are so reminiscent of UM that the idea of having Bill Kurtis on board would make it harder for people to tell that show from Kurtis' own shows. Plus, nowheregirl is right; Bill Kurtis probably couldn't host the show unless he was also the producer. Or, I say, unless UM is sold to Kurtis Productions.

You are all right, I guess what I am trying to say is that he has a great way of delivering the 'creepy fear' better than anyone else in my opinion. (except Stack of course)
I think he would even be better than Darth Vader for that matter. |

You know, I like Bill Kurtis but I am not sure he would be right for a UM type of show. Bill Kurtis is more good for documentary type shows like American Justice and Cold Case files, but those two shows really dont have the same vibe as Unsolved Mysteries, because Unsolved Mysteries typically did not spend a half hour to an hour looking at just one case and going very in depth about it like a documentary, Unsolved Mysteries more scanned the surface which was more exciting and dramatic. I like Bill Kurtis, but he in my personal opinion would be fit more for a documentary type show than an Unsolved Mysteries.

I too doubt that any notable names will get the hosting job. And salary is definitely a factor in the hiring process. So one should not hold his or her breath to see UM being hosted by, say, Tom Cruise or Leonardo DiCaprio. In the Broadcasting & Cable article, Clancy Brown was named as a possible new host. Brown, who said that he would not be available for the job, is a long-time character actor. So he wouldn't be very likely to demand too much money if he accepted the job offer. Raymond Burr or Karl Malden (Robert Stack's predecessors) could have become the permanent host of UM. But they both blew that chance by asking for more money than what the studio was willing or able to pay them. Obviously, UM doesn't want a financial opportunist as the new host. Nor do they want someone who takes the job for the wrong reasons. The last thing I want the UM folks to do is to make a business decision that comes back to haunt them.
