Who else hates hearing this when they can't find what they are lookin for in a store?

I have tried to contain myself several times when i hear this because unless they can order it and have someone deliver it in 20 min, i don't want to hear it

I just think that should be eliminated in customer service since we are in the internet era because that's something I can do on my own-lol Maybe that statement is helpful in 1987 not 2007

Amen. I'm not waiting 3 weeks for our local store to order in something for a higher price than I could purchase it online for myself and get it in a week.

Chances are if I'm actually in the store to buy something, it's because I have absolutely no desire to order it and wait for it to ship. I've got Amazon Prime so I can get 2 day shipping for free or overnight for $4, so I have no desire whatsoever to order it in-store and wait 3 weeks on it. If I'm in-store, I want it now or not at all.

Where do you shop that you actually run into sales clerks who are this helpful? Usually when I ask for something that they're out of, all I hear is, "If you don't see it, then we don't have any more!" I respond with, "I guess I'll look elsewhere."

I know customer service is a tough job, but there's still no need for a rude attitude.

I dont like that answer either...usually though, they will try to call their sister stores to see if any of the nearby ones, have the object in stock, to me, THAT is a good response.

They usually will do that in most of the stores here...theyll even offer to have someone from the other store bring it over, sometimes, though, i usually just drive over to the other store, and get it myself.

Depends what stores you deal with. Many will oblige to do that for you. Some won't.

Last week I went to return a defective computer video game and the girl told me I can't get my $$ back, only exchange for the same product. I asked her if they had it in stock? She responded, "You can look in the aisle where you found this one." NO WAY JOSE! I told her, "No thank you. Can you look in your computer and see if there is one in the store before I waste my time looking?" She did. She said there was one in the store and this is the funny part, her manager TOLD HER TO GO LOOK FOR IT. I loved it. She finally gave up looking for it and told me I could exchange it for "something else".
