Talking Do you mean to tell me . . .

that Alice was scared seeing Bobby and Cindy with sheets over their heads?

that Mrs. Bailey couldn't figure out that Peter was trying to get out of the play?

that Mr. Brady went out for the evening even though he was suspicious of the boys looking forward to the girls' slumber party.

that Peter and Bobby didn't recognize Marcia's voice in the attic?

that Marcia didn't see that Peter was the common link in the leaking of secrets?

What other clueless moments can you think of?

The first example that the last poster used was from "To Move or Not to Move". There was another thing in that episode that I found "very" hard to swallow! This had to do with the pilot light in the oven. This was another incident that frightened the pantyhose off of Alice! It seems that the children had it rigged up so that when Alice opened the oven door, the light would blink. When that episode was made, the children rainged in age from seven to fourteen. I find it "very" hard to believe that any of the children in that age rainge knew enough about science in general and electronics in particular to accomplish such a thing!

That Marcia was so worried about being a high school freshman that she didn't go to school on the first day, and then she signed up for every student club just to establish her popularity. Besides that, did a Los Angeles [or whatever school district in that area] public high school really have, in the early 70's, a recognized club of such prissy female snobs as the one she got in? where the club leader told Marcia she had to check with them about what she could wear and who else she could associate with...?

. . . that Sam stood Alice up because a 7 year old said that she hugged the postman?

. . . that Marcia let Tiger take her schoolwork? (She ran down the stairs after him, called him a hairy beast, then ran back up the stairs. Then later, Cindy followed him to the doghouse but just stood there until her mom began talking to her. Maybe everyone was afraid of the dog. )

Great thread!

Here are some more:

1.) That Carol question's Mike whether or not they know "Joe Namath?" ("Quarterback Sneak")

2.) That Alice Couldn't remember which laundry soap she used the first time the clothes were washed to test Safe against Best? ("And Now A Word From Our Sponsor")

3.) That the Brady's go through a big party ritual for Peter seemingly just because he gets his feelings hurt for Greg and Marcia getting even with his eavesdropping? ("The Private Ear")

4.) That after Buddy Hinton bullies and torments Peter and Cindy at school, and gives Peter a black eye, he tells the kids to stop teasing Buddy after Peter decks him? Than, Buddy COMES OVER to the house to borrow Cindy's tongue twister book? (That great episode is ruined by that very stupid tag! It should have ended with Buddy running away after Peter decks him and Peter says, "Come on, let's go home.") ("A Fistful of Reasons")

5.) That Carol asks the doctor who determines Marcia's stomach ache is due to nervousness she asks, "Doctor, could the first day at a new school cause this kind of reaction?" BRILLIANT QUESTION! ("Today I am a Freshmen")

6.) That Marica has to stay after school for a week's detention because of the misunderstanding about the drawing of Mrs. Denton. (That should have been a one day punishment.) ( "The Slumber Caper.")

. . . that Bobby needed help getting Millicent out of Mill and cent? Really, I think he would have figured it out at the beginning, back when he guessed mill.

Not to mention that the show always made Cindy out to have some sort of learning disability, such as dyslexia: Examples:

1.) She scrambles up Vote For Marcia (each word) when the girls are working on her campaign posters.

2.) She mixes up Mark Millard's name on the phone message pad. "Makr Maldrill" LOL!

3.) She has memory lapses:

Cindy: How come I alwaths get Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwithes?"

Carol: "Because you love them!"

Cindy: "Oh yea! I keep forgetting!!!"

She even has a quote, "Forgetting's easy, it's remembering that's hard."

Bobby was pretty sharp and quick witted for his age.

true--my daughter is a year or so younger than what Cindy was at that time, and she can spell better than that! Poor Susan could never understand why she had to act so stupid. I guess the writers thought it was cute.

I LOVE the examples that you great folks are coming up with here!

In the Desi Arnaz Jr. "Diary" episode, the guy collects the used books from the Bradys... then after Carol/Alice go back into the house, Cindy tells him that he "forgot" to get the last box of books (the box which, of course, contained Marcia's diary).

I wouldn't exactly call Cindy clueless for doing that (even though she had no business giving the guy a box of books when she had no idea what was in them)... but I think that the guy collecting the books was clueless to accept a box from a 7 year old without checking with either Carol or Alice first, especially when he had already apparently packed all of the intended boxes into his truck.

And yeah, Jack...it is too funny when Carol says to Mike, "we don't even KNOW Joe Namath, do we, Mike?" Hilarious that she has to ask her husband whether or not they know Joe Namath.

I have never heard of such a thing as far as any high school allowing such a club to exist. I know in college and universities you have your sororities and fraternities that pretty much dictate what the members can or can't do, which is why you are pretty much on your own as far as joining those clubs, but a high school is run by a district and I can't fathom any Los Angeles or any other school district to allow any such female club to exist where they tell members who they can associate with, how to dress, etc.
