i'm sorry, but what exactly does "former bad trader" mean?

does it mean that he used to rip people off but no longer feels the desire to do so anymore?

i think that it depends on the circumstances of whatever earned him his bad reputation, but i think that most traders aren't going to want to give someone a chance to rip off again - you have to earn a good reputation, and that means that they will have to send first and live up to everything that they promise in every trade that they make.

i'd also like to add that if your friend is really serious about turning his act around and being an honest trader, he should go back to all of his previous trades and make every attempt to make each and every one of them right before he even tries to start any new ones.

I also think, if your roomate is serious, he should be posting himself- and or contacting a moderator, to make them aware he plans on trading again.

If he plans on changing his old ID- which I do not recomend, it may come across as he wants a fresh slate, which many will frown upon.
The sound decision to make, to me- would be come back, under the same name- and post asking what was left outstanding, so that fresh trades aren't made over the burning embers of trades left unresolved-
This might help avoid resentment or the past bring brought up.
But again, he/she/they should be doing this on their own merit-
Although its nice for you to post asking advice, don't do their work for them-
And understand you being a member here, may force you to prove yourself a little harder, if their old habits, resurface.

There are 4 moderators to this section, and I am sure if your roomate asks one of them for their time to make good on past issues, it will be an easier time for all parties.

Default make good first....

I agree with Roby and Savage. If in fact he is sincere and wanting to make amends, I think he needs to clean up and fix the problems first.

There used to be a person that had the same problem at one time, and he worked really hard to turn that repution from bad to good. He ended up re-gaining the respect of others but it took quite a while to fix the damage. It's always easier to screw something up then it is to fix it.

When I do trades with folks, I try my damnedest to make sure "we" give
what is expected and get the same from the other person. I also look at each trade as a multiple trade. If the 1st trade works out, I like to propose a 2nd, 3rd and possible 4th trade. That builds comfortability and trust.

Good Luck to your friend, it'll be quite a challenge!
