Default Kelsey Grammer Predicts that 'Back To You' Will Be as Big A Hit As Cheers And Frasier

Kelsey Grammer has revealed that he expects his new TV show to match the success of Cheers and Frasier.

The 52-year-old has taken on the role of a news host who is attempting to rebuild his life in Back To You, which will premiere in 2008, and he has vowed that the program will be a huge hit.

Grammer told WENN: "What would be wrong with doing three of the greatest television shows in history? I'm thrilled to be back doing something I'm good at."

It would be great to have a serious hit sitcom again.

Could somebody tell me the date and time it is premiering so I can watch it?

I hate missing pilots...

That would be great but those two shows lasted 11 seasons. I think if this show lasts between 5-7 (with the state of the sitcom today), that would be considered successful.

I think you make an excellent point. I could be wrong, but sitcoms just don't have that type of longevity anymore.

And he's jinxed it. lol

I hope it's a success, though. I plan to watch it. I like Kelsey Grammer.

I predict that the post that Brian made with Kelsey Grammer's prediction of his show being a hit, is accurate.

Those there are some pretty strong words. I wish the show the best. I really hope it turns out to be as great as Cheers and Frasier. We need a new "classic" sitcom....The only thing that concerns me is the shows home. FOX has proven itself to be a big network with Dramas (24, House) and Reality shows (American Idol), but I'm curious if they can have a big breakout sitcom. Can "Back To You" be as successful there as it might have been if it were on CBS or NBC? We shall find out...

I think it sounds better if the media says that and not him. I never heard of a actor pumping up a show he will be starring on.

in the UK channel 4 had recently bought the rights to this show and i will be looking forward to see how well this fares. i don't think that its ideal to compare this with kelsey's other hits cheers and frasier, but rather we ought to judge this as whether it is as good a show as he puts it. post-frasier and everybody loves raymond, i'm sure there are certain people who expect that both kelsey and patricia will do well and i'm hoping it does.

as buffyboy right points out, as sitcom fans ourselves it has been a long while since we have had a decent and successful US sitcom on our screens as the reality tv shows and dramas have constantly ruled and taken over the tv schedules. if it becomes successful, hopefully this would be a wake up call for more sitcom writers and producers, both experienced and novice, to bring this genre back to life

I'm sure it'll be successful . . . I'm just worried about what'll happen when it's up against Pushing Daisies . . . probably down in viewers a bit, but not a huge loss.

Also, a little question. About how many viewers do you think should be watching each week to consider it a success nowadays? I would say anything over 10 million, but that might even be a bit too high.
