I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that these two got married. So, you can imagine my horror when these two ended up divorcing. I hated that.
I realize the show was being "real" and divorces do occur in real life. I just hated that these two who were very different, yet seemed so compatible, were not allowed to grow as a couple and maybe have a baby.

I barely remember them. In fact, I barely remember the show!! The last time I saw it was in the mid-80s. I'd love to see it on DVD someday - it would be great to watch it now through the eyes of an adult.

You can watch it on AOL In2 tv. I seen the famous Christmas episode where they get robbed. I haven't had a chance to watch the other episodes they offer. I wish it was on DVD as well.

Well, in the final analysis, I think they were A LOT BETTER as boyfriend girlfriend. While I initially thought the marriage would be great, what unraveled it was how threatened David was by Janet. David was kind of old fashioned in the sense that it really bothered him when Janet made more money and was more "sucessful". I'm glad they parted friends. I really think the kind of woman David needed was someone who was as sweet as Janet but nowhere's near as smart.

David wanted "old fashioned" when it came to job, career, status, etc. but he sure didn't think that way abt Janet when he asked her to move in.
Funny how men are not insecure abt that, but when it comes to other issues like money and career, suddenly it is a different story.

Good observation Irene. That is definitely a double standard, and I should have picked up on it. Contrast this to Tom Bradford, who is hopelessly old-fashioned, but not hypocritical.

David and Janet were compatible and Eight Is Enough kept the issues real midway the 3rd season on. That was when the show slowly jump the shark when they were going for storylines that was relevant to America. The first two and a half seasons the show was entertaining to watch. |

I thought they made a great couple, and was so disappointed when they split up.
