Default Days: Drake Hogestyn

I recently found out and apparently it's been confirmed that Drake(John Black) is being killed off. When he's being killed off, supposedly in November. I've just about had it with Days. They as might as well knock Days off of NBC right now!!! As soon as '09 gets here, it's adios Days, I just know it!! I really do NOT want to lose John Black, he's been with the show, I think for about 20 years. Days has been going down the toilet for a while now, but IMO, this shocking news is going to drive the fans away indefinitely, especially the John & Marlena fans. We, the fans, as might as well just sit back and watch our favorite soap opera be destroyed, because IMO, that's what it's leading to. There's no going back, it's all down hill from here. What's everyone's thoughts about this?

Let's be honest, John Black has been used less and less. While it'll be sad to see him go, I am sure they will leave it open for him to make a return. I am really loving the whole "Vendetta" storyline.

I don't blame him wanting out of his contract, he's underused and as of lately underrated, which is BS. There have been rumors that he was let go due to budget cuts, I'm not sure how accurate that is though. If that's the case, why not get rid of some characters who aren't as important. John Black is a legend and an icon, as well as Jarlena. To toss out a veteran is plain idiotic. Ken Corday and Hogan Sheffer have lost their freaking minds to have let Drake go, especially Corday. I mean his parents, I believe are the makers of Days, I think. But their own son is destroying their baby, Days was and is their baby. I can only imagine that they are turning in their graves thinking,"what were we thinking letting him run and take over DOOL". Corday needs to go, he's worthless, he's only making matters worse. At the rate Days is going, as soon as their contract is up with NBC in '09, it's adios Days. I trully believe that's what Corday wants, he actions prove it. 1. He doesn't care about the veterans, it's been a long time since a veteran has been given a decent storyline. 2. Since the cat is out of the bag about the vendetta between the Brady's and DiMera's, what else is there to tell? I'll tell you what, absolutely nothing. I'm telling you, it's the end of Days, it's definitely near, it sucks and it's sad. Okay, I'm done ranting and raving, but this just pisses me off!!

I heard about this on The Daily Buzz this morning from Soap Opera Digest editor Stephanie Sloane. I'm not a real big John Black fan but I find this move by TPTB to be utterly stupid. DOOL is supposed to be gone within two years, and if they really want to save themselves from cancellation, killing off a veteran character is the last thing they should be doing, even if he isn't used as much as he used to be. Why limit themselves even further?

I don't know about this rest of you, but all this week has been a tearjerker for me. Every single day I've been bawling like a baby watching the scenes with Drake(John), Deidre(Marlena), Martha(Belle) and Peter(Bo). This has been a excellent week for DOOL. To bad it's at the expense of our hero John Black. I can't believe that John is actually dead.

I agree very good week. But I dont know how I feel about Sami having the twins yesterday. But I do like that she named the boy John.

I thought it was kinda cool that Lucas and Sami were considering naming their daughter Julia Roberts. Knowing that the real Julia Roberts is a fan of DOOL, that must have been a shock and honor to her, to have her name mentioned.
