Default Jay-Z's threats to Rihanna

Jay-Z "threatened to kill" Rihanna

Tuesday, August 28 2007, 12:01 BST

By Alex Fletcher

Jay-Z reportedly threatened to kill Rihanna by throwing her out of a 29th floor window unless she signed with Def Jam records.

The hip hop star was apparently so overwhelmed by the 'Umbrella' singer's rendition of Whitney Houston's 'For The Love Of Me' that he wouldn't let her leave unless she agreed to join the label.

Talking about the incident, she said: "The audition went well. They [Def Jam] locked me into the office - till 3am.

"And Jay-Z said, 'There's only two ways out. Out the door after you sign this deal. Or through this window...' and we were on the 29th floor. Very flattering."

sounds like a bunch of bull to me. i don't think he would do such a thing as that

Oh No

Wow, the return of Suge Knight Jr. Making an offer she couldn't refuse.

(If it were true.)

I don't think it's true either.
From what I've read about Jay-Z and have seen in interviews, he seems to be very different in real life than his "hip hop persona."

That sounds scary. But, just because he's a well known rapper, you have to remember that he is still a person and why would any woman make up a story of something so horrific? At least the good news is she's alive.

Yea I agree this sounds like total bull. This doesn't sound a think like Jay-Z. Jay already has a lot of great artists on his label he could use more but he doesn't even need Rihanna

i think Rihanna is a nice person, well from what i've seen of her on tv and the interviews she has done. personally, as i said before that story was and is total bull **** and that some nasty journalist came up with that stuff and put it on the website just to provoke a reaction. Jay wouldn't hurt a fly

i very much doubt she said something on the lines of that. you know what most journalists are like nowadays: always taking a story and twisting it around in order to get people taking and seek attention. the guy who wrote this had done it to fill the space on the site and spread nasty gossip about people they don't really know that well

If Jay-Z said that, especially in a joking matter, it doesn't how "innocent" he might make it, if it sounds like a threat, it is a threat and I don't care if he's joking or not, he should really be ashamed of himself for even venting that to Rhianna. She can sign with any record label she pleases and no one, not even Jay-Z, can stop her. If Jay-Z wants to threaten someone in a so-called joking matter, then the law would determine whether or not to charge him with either attempted assault or aggravated menacing. No matter how you look at it, no judge would find Jay-Z's little "throw you out the window from the 29th floor unless you sign with Def Jam Records" joke either funny nor amusing-they would throw the book at him, but in reality, it probably is a load of garbage.

I'm assuming this was in a boardroom, where there probably weren't any windows at all, and the nearest ones didn't even open.

JAY-Z
"Girl you're so good, if you don't sign with us I'll have to throw you out the window from the 29th floor!"

*background laughter*

RIHANNA
"OH. MY. GOD ARE YOU SERIOUS?! You're, goi-goin-going t--to-to sign ME?!"

AHAHAHAHAHH!!!!!!!!!!!

JAY-Z
What do you say?

RIHANNA
Of course!

--

I'm sure that's how it went. Really innocent.

Yeah. I was about to post that. I'm sure he wasn't like going to kill her. I mean, he did stuff for her song. Jesus.
