Wasn't the opening theme also a single? I think I heard it on the radio and it had another couple of verses. Am I wrong?
Also, did the "gibberish" rock closing theme have a name? I didn't see one in the credits. |

Yeah it was a hit on the radio back in the 70's. I remember hearing it on the radio back then as well as watching the show from the first ep on. I saw an ad for the first ep on tv & it looked pretty good so I watched it & have watched ever since. In fact I heard the WKRP theme song on the radio not too long ago & was surprised to hear it again...

and the closing theme did have a name; but I forget what it was. It was a song by The Blues Brothers (John Bellusi and Dan Ackroyd). Of course on the show they didn't play the entire song.
For those too young to remember THE BLUES BROTHERS; they were an act that was formed by John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd who were regulars on Saturday Night Live in the 70s. It became so popular that they left the show and started making records, etc. They even made a movie and were planning a sequel to it. But then Johns unfortunate death put an end to the act. |

For ages I'd heard about a record of the theme song turning up on Ebay, and looked around all the record collector fairs, but with no luck. Then someone found the song on a website, downloaded it and put it on a CD to make a sort of CD-single of the song! Next best thing to a record, IMHO. It was backed up with a couple of dialogue clips and the end title music.
