Default Mystery Door

I have wondered about the door in the kitchen for years. Is it a closet/cupboard? On the other side of the wall is the hallway, so it can't be too deep.

Has anyone ever seen Lucy open it or even refer to it?

It is like the mystery door at the top of the Brady stairs. Maybe they just put it there to fill in a blank wall.

Again, that pic has me

I have never ever seen Lucy open it or have it be referred to. I always imagined it was some small pantry or closet door for mops, brooms, etc. Like you said, it can't be very deep since the hallway is right outside.

In the show Good Times, they too have a mystery door in their kitchen. We always felt it was where they kept their lifetime supply of oatmeal.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that door opened before, and it was a closet/pantry like you said. I might be thinking of their other apartment, was there a door there too? If I figure out what episode it was I'll let you know, but I don't have every episode on DVD...maybe when they release that complete series box set I'll be able to get to the bottom of it.

Bill-Thanks for replying. I have the complete series and have been watching for 45 years and don't recall anything about that door.

I will definitely look into it. After all, it's a matter of life and death!

I know that feeling. I can almost swear that door has never been opened. There has been no reason for it to be opened. Not even Lucy hid in there when she was being chased by Cousin Ernie. Hell, he didn't even bother to look in that door.

Haha, if it's out there I'm sure we'll find it. I just can't get this image out of my head of Lucy opening that door to grab some kind of canned food from one of the shelves. How about we start the process of elimination...how long did they live in that apartment for?

Lucy never even opened that door when she was buying groceries for her neighbors in the business manager episode. She opened up almost every cabinet, drawer, even the oven door, but not that door.

Remember too, that the previous photo is from season one, so it was the old apartment. "The Business Manager" was from season four, so it was the new apartment.

That means if we see the door open at all, it must be in season one or the first half of season two.

Here is the kitchen in the second apartment, "The Business Manager."

Ok, great. Thanx for clearing that up. So, if the door is seen at all and it was ever opened (which I doubt) then, it would have to be in that season you mentioned. Thanx for that photo.

I really doubt the door was ever opened and IF IT WAS it was a scene that was shown originally waaaaay back in the days of syndication but has been deleted/edited out since.

Default The Secret Door

I bet if you open that door, Chuck Cuttingham will come out.

Are you telling me there are deleted/edited out scenes that aren't available on DVD?

You ask an interesting question as I've never thought about that before. I don't recall that door ever being opened so now I'll have to view my DVDs to solve this mystery.
