I never realized that abt the weather and when they discuss the "heatwave" in the summer months. It is soooooo true Solomon. You are right, why not save the weather discussion for the 20 minute mark? That is when the weather person will discuss the weather anyways, why discuss it TWICE? I am with you on this Solomon. Although we are not experiencing a heatwave here in my area, I know when it has been extremely hot inland, the news will start off with the HOT WEATHER NEWS. Like other news isn't so important, like the war, the local news, etc.

I love American Gladiators, and as it's an 1)old 2)athletic competition, it has every right to be on ESPN Classic. Poor example for an otherwise mostly valid point.

World Series of Poker...yeah, I can agree on that. Just like shows such as World Series of Blackjack really have no business being on Game Show Network, or GSN, or whatever they're branding themselves these days.

I probably agree that movies on ESPN-Classic seem odd. However, ESPN as a network has long been been about competition and not just sports. The line between sports and competition is more of a continuum that a sharp divide. ESPN has been the home of the national spelling bee ever since I can remember. It seems a natural extension that some non-sports appear on its classics station.

Within the context of sports rights becoming harder and harder to secure and teams creating their own networks and are asserting their rights to programming, I would expect to see more "non-sports" on sports channels.

Far more disturbing to me is when ABC Family shows a movie like Cruel Intentions. Far more ridiculous to me is when Toon Disney shows movies like I Blew Up The Kid with so many animated movies available.

I know it's so crazy-lol People who watch the news about a heatwave story probably feel hotter when they go outside because of all the hype

But American Gladiators shouldn't be on more than Classic NFL moments. I would say NFL belongs on the network too.

Good rant Solomon!

The weather thing is completely true.

For ESPN Classic, I have a problem with the poker because that is a card game. Games go on the Game Show Network not the sports network. If ESPN wants so desperately to air poker, why should new episodes of poker be airing on ESPN CLassic? I think ESPN Classic has a right to air American Gladiators but I find they air too much crap that nobody cares about. Itd be okay to have a movie about sports or shows like gladiators on for a few hours a day but it should not be on more than classic nfl, nba, and nhl games (which imo should be the majority of what is on) no more pool and bowling hours in the morning..

Good one Solomon!

I don't know where you live but I'm sure you can't wait until January when they are freaking out over blizzards and colder than "normal" temperatures!!!

I wouldn't mind if they led off with the weather today, as long as they tell me a cold front is coming through.

I agree and right now at this very moment Cartoon Network is airing the movie "The Son of the Mask".

Thumbs up

Your rants keep getting better and better, Solomon! I was LMAO about the big deal they make about heatwaves in August. It's so true. If it drops to 40 in August, then that should be the lead story, lol.

I get my weather on my AOL Welcome Page. It has a 5-day forecast, and it's put out by The Weather Channel. I never watch the news for weather, unless we're going to get buried by a Nor'easter. Even then, I could do without the reporters standing in the blizzards, just about getting blown into the next city, lol. I never understood putting those poor reporters out there IN the blizzard.
