Default Seriously now, where's Season 4?

Has Sony released any statement regarding why they've been taking so long to release the next FOL set? It's going to be almost a year since Season 3.

yea, i'm starting to think i will never get to complete any series i have been anticipating for except for gilmore girls... i mean, i have waited and waited for fol on dvd, and then we got seasons 1-3... and i KNOW they did well in sales! They were very good for sony to release... but why must they focus all of their manpower into the stupid playstation 3, which nobody is wanting or buying becuase everyone wants the ps2 stuff, like guitar heros and ddr.... it's just a waste of their manpower.... ugh! I would love to finish my sets of boy meets world, growing pains, leave it to beaver, everwood, diff'rent strokes, and many others which have been yanked from the shelves right before reaching the really good seasons!! Not fair!

Hello, I am new to the board. I just found it this past weekend but I have been a huge FOL fan since it started in 1979. The show only go better as the years went on. The addition of Jo was great.

I came to this board looking for information on when season 4 of the FOL DVD would be released and I can see by this thread there is no word.

Come on Sony, give is some good news for the fall season. We want a FOL series set or at least season 4 to be released.

I'm really suprised about all of this but I said last spring it'll be out by Christmas and now I'm starting to question that.

I'm sure it will be. After all, Sony usually releases a season a year, and we haven't seen one yet this year.

Unfortunately, Sony has given up on many tv shows on dvd. They have released one or two seasons and then they call it quits. They have shown this treatment to many classic series of which we have only seen one season (two, if we’re lucky) on dvd. Paramount has actually gotten a bit better. Regardless of music replacement issues, they are still releasing something. The horrible truth is that Sony simply waits too long to release the next set in a series if they release it at all. It is incomprehensible that one of the most groundbreaking series in TV history (All in the Family) is still not complete on dvd.

As far as Facts goes, it was a really good seller for Sony. They say the release of follow-up sets depends on sales from the previous sets. Then, the sales are high and they release nothing. It is beyond me who works for this department but they clearly don’t have a grasp on marketing or dvd sales. The wait between sets allows the public to forget what has been released and lose interest. It seems to be what has happened. It hurts future sales as well. It really is a shame.

To my understanding seasons 1 & 2 of FOL sold very well b/c of the cast appearing on several talk shows the week of the release. Season 3 probably didn't sell as well b/c there was pretty much no advertising for it. Sony then looks at as 'oh well season 3 didn't sell as well as the first 2'. It is very frustrating and every time I email them I always get the generic 'there is no published release date at this time'. Sony usually does 1 set a year for some shows (All in the Family, Married with Children) while others get released a bit more frequently (even these have slowed down to about 7-9 months, eg: Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie). And then there's Maude (no pun) which sold very well and there is no news of season 2.

I hope that Sony releases season four by the end of the year. Though it is starting to look like that isn't going to happen.

I never saw any advertising at all when the first three seasons came out. I just saw them in the store one day and got uber-excited.

I really hope we get all the seasons. I think we might have hope b/c George Clonney was in 2 seasons and he is such a huge, oscar winning star that Sony could make a lot of money w/thoes seasons.

Right now, our only hope is that Sony makes an announcement next month. After that, we might not see Season 4 until next year. Hopefully, they are trying to release these close to the holidays to try to cash in on gift-giving ideas.
