Default The Brady Cars

Did we ever see more than one car at any time?

Mike had the car he took to work. Carol had the station wagon or other car. Greg had a car at one time. There was never another car parked on that long driveway and I am not sure if they ever pulled into the carport.

The earlier seasons showed a station wagon parked in front of the house, but later there wasn't one so it should have been on the driveway.

there are some episodes where there is 1 car parked and they just take the car behind the car that is in front....at home...and on Fender Benders (Episode 73, Season 3) they are in the blue 1 and the station wagon.

There were a few episodes where both cars where shown in the drive. Not always though. I think in season one, they both were seen a couple of times. Carols brown 69' Plymouth Satellite station wagon and Mikes blue 69' Plymouth Fury convertible. I think his was the one under the carport mostly when it showed her car too. Honestly, I have never noticed that... I am not sure if both were shown that often in the later seasons or not.

I do remember in the episode where Marcia and Greg have that driving contest, it shows both cars several times in that "vacant" parking lot. By then, Mikes car was a 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertible that was red/maroon. Carol had her usual brown Plymouth Satellite stationwagon, but at least she did get the latest model every other year. lol.

While on the subject of cars, I always found it interesting that Carol ALWAYS had a brown Plymouth Satellite station wagon. Mike had the blue Plymouth Fury convertible for the earliest seasons, then had a blue Plymouth Barracuda convertible in late 70-early 71', then in late 71' they switched over to Chevrolets for the convertible and I think he had a blue 72' Chevrolet Impala convertible, then for late 72-early 73 he had a red 73' Caprice convertible then in the later 73 thru the end of the last season, he had a 74' Caprice convertible, which we see being driven by Greg and Marcia on the "driving contest" episode... which is also the car that Marcia took her driving test in. Funny that they switched to General Motors cars for Mikes car, but Carols wagon continued on being furnished by Chrysler Corporation. I would have thought that they would have given Carol something like a Chevy Malibu wagon (which was the Satellites closest competitor).

I like the Chevy wagons of that era (so much so, that I actually have a 72' Kingswood Estate wagon (Chevy Caprice wagon) that can be seen in my avatar), that I wish they have of given Carol a nice big ole' Chevy wagon with the classic 70s woodgrain.

Actually, Aaron, the "car where the top came off" is the convertible in which Greg drove Rachel to the drive-in in "Greg Gets Grounded." You may remember the scene with Bobby tagging along putting up the umbrella when the roof was closing.

In the opener there was the car where the dog managed to push the button that rolled down the window ... with an extra handle to do it manually!

that car they had a choice of doing it manually or automatic button, and the button could be used while the car was off.

Didn't Mike, Carol and Bobby go somewhere in one car, and come back home in the station wagon? Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are exactly right! It was in season 2 "The Winner". Mike and Carol was taking Bobby to the "Kartoon King" contest- the ice cream contest. They leave in the convertible, come home in the station wagon. Carol says something like, "It looks like everyone is out" and Bobby says "Yeah, they did not want to see a loser".

I am thinking by then that the car Greg was a 72' Chevrolet Impala, or possibly the Barracuda, both of which were different cars than we saw in season 1, which was a 69' Plymouth Fury. There was also a different car between those... a 70 or 71' Barracuda convertible... a high $$$$$ car today (if you can find one) .

Carol actually had two station wagons! I found this info on a Brady website:

The Bradys' cars

During the first two seasons, each of the Brady family's motor vehicles were supplied by Chrysler Corporation: a blue 1969 Plymouth Fury III convertible (which Mike drove) and a light brown 1969 Plymouth Satellite station wagon.

For the 1971–1972 season, the Bradys obtained new vehicles, once again supplied by Chrysler Corporation: a blue 1971 Plymouth Barracuda convertible and a brown 1971 Plymouth Satellite Regent station wagon. The 1971 Barracuda was modified during the 1971 – 1972 season into a 1972 model, with the addition of that year's particular grille and tail light combination (interestingly, the Chrysler Corporation never produced a 1972 Barracuda convertible). Greg, who by this time had his license, sometimes drove Mike's convertible, although he briefly owned a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a car which proved to be a lemon.

The Bradys kept the 1971 Plymouth station wagon throughout the rest of the series (this vehicle played a central role in the episode "The Fender Benders"), although Mike kept switching cars, which by the 1972–1973 season, were supplied by General Motors. These were as follows:

1972–1973 - A blue 1972 Chevrolet Impala convertible.
1973–1974 - A maroon 1973 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertible with white interior during the first half of the season. Starting with 1974 episode, "The Driver's Seat" and continuing through the remainder of the series, the convertible is a red 1974 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertible with black interior.
There are two known surviving "Brady Bunch" cars: The blue 1969 Plymouth Fury III convertible (which has been perfectly restored), and the modified 1971 – 1972 Plymouth Barracuda (which was found in 2001 in extremely poor condition, and is under restoration by its current owner). The whereabouts of the remaining vehicles are not known.

During A Very Brady Christmas, Mike's car is a 1988 Chrysler LeBaron convertible; the family station wagon is not seen.

In The Bradys, Mike continues to drive the same car as in A Very Brady Christmas. The family station wagon (which a drunken Marcia attempts to drive) is a 1990 Buick Estate wagon.

Wow, thanks Madame X for that very detailed info. I was pretty sure of the cars that were used and changed, but I was unsure how often they changed @ which particular season. I also did not know the details on the interior changes on Mikes car.... I had never noticed that before. Also thats neat info on the "remaining" Brady cars that were originally used. Its a shame that the one car has not been restored back to its original glory. I wonder what happened to the stationwagons and the Chevy convertibles? Probably ended up in the crusher somewhere over the years... a real shame too, because those are collectors cars now... even station wagons are now. In that episode where Greg had the 56' Bel-Air convertible... I loved that episode... whats ironic, is now, that is a very collectible and sought after car... in that condition today, that car would probably bring $50,000-$60,000 easy.

Isnt it strange that Carol never got a newer car after the 71'? I was thinking it did change eventually to a 73' Plymouth Satellite wagon (with the slightly larger bumpers), but I may be mistaken.

She should have ended up with a big fancy wagon with the woodgrain trim.
