This might be a really dumb question, but what is the difference between broadcasting and broadcast journalism? Would a person who is a reporter for a television station have majored in broadcasting or broadcast journalism? I'm trying to figure this out because I want to transfer to a college to eventually become an interviewer/reporter of sorts. I'm just wondering what I need to major in and everything, and knowing the difference between the two would really help. Thanks!

Truthfully, to some extent it depends on the way the college/university structures it's classes.
That said, Broadcast Journalism generally deals with the reporting and news aspects, while Broadcasting is usually taking the industry as a whole - the advertising, business, production, et al. aspects (with colleges setting up concentrations and focuses, usually). |
