Im REALLY proud of this episode, i have to say that i think it is really touching and your might think a tad funny, but i dont know, I think that, well i should say hope that you really liek this episode, my favorite, here it goes...

Toughing It Out

---Cafeteria----

Natalie and Kim: (walk into cafeteria)
Mrs. G: HI natalie and natalie's friend!
Nat: Oh mrs. Garret this is Kimberly, and Kim this is mrs. Garrett!
Kim: (shakes Mrs. Gs hand) Hi, i prefer Kim, when people call me Kimberly i feel like I'm in trouble!
Mrs. G: (laughs) That's a nice jacket you have there... waht does Babydoll mean?
Kim: Oh, its my nickname!
Nat: Isnt that neat? Kim just transferred her... she comes from the Bronx like jo!
Mrs. G: Oh, so why idd you transfer to Eastland?
Kim: There are a lot of gangs in our neighborhood an dmy wnated me away from it... shes over protective...
Mrs. G: Oh, well i probably would have done the same thing (shurgs shoulders) Natalie the other girls are waiting for you in the kitchen, its almost dinner tiem!
Nat: ok, Kim I'll see you tomorrow
Kim: yup! (leaves) bye!
Nat: (walks into kitchen) isnt she nice mrs. garrett?
Mrs. G: (follows natalie) yes, but it must have been hard growing up in a tough neighborhood full of street gangs... its scares me to think of what it woudl be like!
Jo: wahts so scarey about it? my neigborhoods full of gangs and im still here...
Blair: yea, but you not welcome!
Jo: you wanna say that again!! (puts fist in front of blairs face)
Blair: No!
Mrs. G: girls! girls! no blood shed in the kitchen we have to start making dinner!!
Nat: But mrs. garrett, the gangs havent changed her.. shes really nice!
Mrs. G: (goes to fridge and gets out lettuce and 2 knives) Nat thats great but we have to get going come on start slicing (hands a knife to nat and chops lettuce)

----Class----

Kim: hey natalie, will you come to teh Chug-A-Lug bar with me tonight?
Nat: its a school night, we have to be in by 9 and besides we're not old enough to get in..
Kim: Oh, well i am meeting some friends outside at 10, if you want to come meet me in the cafeteria at 9:30 ok?
Nat: Ok!! I'll see if Mrs. Garrett will be gone to bed by then

---Cafeteria----

Nat: (walks in) Hey jo... wahts up?
Jo: you know your new friend Kim?
Nat: waht about her?
Jo: she used to live in my nieghborhood before they tried to put her in a rehab center...
Nat: waht do you mean? a rehad center!!
Jo: She ran away before they got her
Mrs. G: (walks in on girls talking with Jo seeing her looking at something)
Jo: She was in a gang and i think she still is, she had to be in a rehab center cuz the caught her in school with drugs, the gangs drugs i bet!
Nat: (shocked look)
Mrs. G: (takes glasses off and looks at jo and nat)
Jo: Look Nat, just stay away form Kim... shell try to get you in teh gang... and to get in it you gotta let all of them beat you till you almost die! Look they're dangerous!!
Nat: (gasps in shock)
Mrs. G: Jo are you saying that Kim is in a street gang?!?!
Jo: (quickly turns around) yea... Im pretty sure
Mrs. G: Natalie, stay away form her!! i dont want you getting into trouble with her, got it! (orders natalie and walks past to set up table clothes)
Nat: (thinks kinda taps foot and then follows mrs. garrett) Mrs. garrett, Kim wanted me to sneek out tonight and meet her "friends" at the chug-a-lug bar... I'm suposed to meet her in here at 9:30 waht do you i do!?!?
Mrs,. G: you'll meet her... but iwth me (points to self) there too!! I have a few things to say to that girl!! (says angrily and puts hands on hips then goes back to tableclothes)
Nat: MRs. Garrett I really dont want to talk to her... I can't bleive she was gong to bring me there and let them hurt me!!
MRs. G: Well I'm sure theres a good reason for it (says loudly and then says to self) I dont kwo waht it is but...
Jo: (interupts) I know waht the reason is... every member has to get 2 new people to join every year before the end or their anniversary of joining and i guess she thought nat was a good card to play...
Mrs. G: (stops iwth table clothes, thinks to self, then goes back to them)
Nat: (Sits on a chair)

---Cafeteria---

Mrs. G: (sitting in the dark at a table waiting for Kim)
Kim: (walks in and turns lights on) Natalie? (sees Mrs. Garrett instead of Nat) oh hi mrs. garrett!! Just came for a midnight snack!
Mrs. G: Hi Kimberly (smiles unhappily and gets up)
Kim: So I guess Natalie told you everything?
Mrs. G: Yea... and JO filled me in on teh rest!!
Nat: (walks in)
Mrs. G: Nat I thought you didnt want to talk to Kim?
Kim: Look mrs. Garrett... I dont want any trouble... I didnt think jo woudl remember me.. but obviously she did (starts walking out)
Nat: Kim wait!!
Kim: (turns around) what!!
Nat: If i would have gone with you wath woudl ahve heppend to me?
Kim: (looks at floor)
Nat: I would have ended up in teh hospital probably... wouldnt i!?!?
Kim: Maybe... (still looks at floor)
Mrs. G: Kimberly how can you be involved in this gang... arent you sick of dealing with all of the drugs and the violence!?!?
Kim: Look these people are my friends!! they take care of me!! (shouts)
Mrs. G: The same people who will hurt you... rape you... and even get you into trouble... oh i wish i had friends liek you've got!! (says sarcastically)
Kim: They wouldnt do that to me!!! (shouts back0
Mrs. G: But if they'd do it to Natalie... why not to you!?!? They could and they will!! (shouts)
Kim: So what!! Its my life!!
Mrs. G: Your right Kimberly it is your life... but do you want to continue with it or leave it!?! ( kinda of comforts Kim by putting hands on her shoulders) If you dont get out of this gang they'll probably get you into trouble with the law or this school or even get you killed!! (says kinda loud yet comforting in a way)
Kim: Ok... ( says kinda like yea your right) so i'll get out!
Mrs. G: Good!! Kimberly we may not know you very well, but we want you to stick around long enough to get toknow you!!! You seem very special Kim.. (smiles)
Kim: Ok, I'm going... to tell them I am not Babydoll anymore!! (takes jacket off and throws it in the garbage then leaves)
MRs. G: Now there goes one brave girl!! (smiles and says) come on Natalie, lets go to bed!
Nat: I cant sleep...
Mrs. G: well Im beat so i'm going to bed, good night! (leaves room)
Nat: (sits at a table and lookes weird and afraid)

Mr. Parker: Edna can i talk to you?
Mrs. G: waht is it Mr. PArtker? (sets up table clotthes and puts salt and peper shackers on afterwards)
Mr. Parker: Do you know Kimberly Whelching?
MRs. G: (stops and looks at mr. parker) Yes... why? (has worrying in her voice)
Mr. Parker: well, there is no easy awy to say this but, last nigth a street gang beat her.. badly...
Mrs. G: (shocked) how bad?!? (puts had over her outh)
Mr. Parker: Enda... seh's dead...
MRs. G: (even more shocked and sits down on a chair puts hang over face and pulls it down where its over her nose and mouth)
Nat: Hey mrs. Garrett!! Mr. Parker!!
Mr. Parker: Well, I'll be leaving now (leaves)
MRs. G: (gets up and goes back to putting table clothes and salt and pepper shakers on the tables)
Nat: wonder why Kim wasnt in class today...
Tootie: (walks in) School was very interesting today..
Jo: (walks in with tootie) Yea, I heard so many rumors flying around about kim...
Nat: LIek what?
Mrs. G: (sits down on a chair again and looks sad)
Jo: I heard she got beat up by a gang last night...
Tootie: I heard they killed her!!
Nat: WHAT!!
Mrs. G: (gets up and puts last table cloth on table with salt and pepper shackers too)
Blair: (walks in) You wouldnt believe some of the things ive heard about kim today!
Nat: Ok thats it!! why are they're so many rumors going around her that arent true!
Mrs. G: Natalie they're not rumors... (looks and straightens table cloth)
Nat: What!?!
Mrs. G: (turns around and puts hands on NAtalies houlsders) Natalie... Kimberly was beat really bad by her so called friends...
Nat: Mrs. Garrett, how bad!! (angrily)
Mrs. G: shes dead (looks down whiel saying it then looks at Natalie)
Nat: Mrs. Garrett...!!! (starts to wimper and kinda fall back a little)
Mrs. G: Natalie... calm down.. (holds onto Natalie so she wont fall)
Nat: That could've been me last night!!
Jo: but it wasnt!!
Mrs. G: Look, she tried to get out of the gang and they must have beat her for it... (look of panic)
Blair: They Killed her?!?
Mrs. G: Girls, I know this is really hard, but I'm here if you need help to get through it (turns to Natalie) Natalie, I am rpoud of you!! (smiles)
NAt: For what!?!
Mrs. G: for telling me that she wanted you to go with her last ngith and for deciding not to go!!
Nat: yes.. thanks (says sarcastically and leaves to go itno the kitchen)
Mrs. G: (weird look)
Tootie: What wrong with her?
Mrs. G: I dont know... girls will you put the vases on the tables please?
Jo: Sure!
Mrs. G: (walks into kitchen) natalie i know its hard to deal with death... so if you need soembody to talk to, i'm always here!! (smiles)
Nat: thanks mrs. Garrett
Mrs. G: (starts to walk out)
Nat: Mrs. Garrett...
Mrs. G: (turns around) Yea?
Nat: I need soembody to talk to...
Mrs. G: Ok talk...
Nat: Mrs. Garrett its all my fault!!
Mrs. G: waht do you mean?
Nat: If i wouldnt have told you about Kim's plan, you wouldnt have changed her mind into quiting and then tehy wouldnt have kicked her... (nods head) well you know... and tehn she wouldnt ahve died!! (shouts and then rest hands on counter)
Mrs. G: Natalie... This isnt your fault!! nor mine... look, even if seh wouldnt ahve gone there last night or even tried to get our, tehy probably would have still hurt her, thats hwat gangs do! They use you to get stuff then they kill you... (gets mad)
Nat: (sighs and then turns back to mrs. garrett)
Mrs. G: natalie... its was kimberly who joined the gang and it was kimberly who suffered from teh gane... we just tried to help her, but it was too late...
Nat: yea, i guess your rigth... but why idd they have to kill her?
Mrs. G: cuz thats what gangs do... (shouts in a sullen manner)
Nat: thanks mrs. garrett but i dont hink i can tlak anymore..
Mrs. G: ok... you'll have a hearing heart for a while but remember your friends... are always here for you!! (smiles)
Nat: thanks (smiles and leans against counter)
MRs. G: (walks behing nat and puts hands on her shoulders)
