Default Bumps on the Head

Although amnesia is not common in real life, many TV characters seem to be stricken. And that cliche that a second bump on the head cures them is a farce.

Here are some sufferers:

Louise Jefferson
Herman Munster
Gomez Addams
Lucy Carmichael
Michelle Tanner
Mr. Ed
Fred Flintstone

Add the ones you can think of!

Clark Kent/Superman, of LOIS AND CLARK, in the 1st season episode entitled, if I'm not mistaken 'Asteroid' as well as Lois Lane in the third season episode 'Forget Me Not'. I think George Reeve's Superman of the original ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN series had it too.

On Laverne & Shirley, Shirley falls down the hallway stairs and gets a knock on the head. When she comes too, she thinks she's a lady names Roxy.

Philip Drummond on Diff'rent Strokes; his was handled moderately well as things became familiar to him gradually, with older stuff first (remembering his daughter before the boys). But, it still took really long for regular amnesia.

The Dukes of Hazzard's Bo Duke in "My Son, Bo Hogg," Boss Hogg tries to use his amnesia to do something, and I forget how he regains his memory, but the 2nd bump might have done it.

Michelle's amnesia in the Full House season finale of season 8 - which turned out to be the series finale when it was cancelled - suffered from extension due to having to extend it to the next week becuase of having to get Scott Wengert on the show, since he was contracted for season 9. This made it even dumber looking, and that was rough, because the doctor said she'd "just regained consciousness" after several hours. She could have awakened groggily in the ambulance and he could have meant complete consciousness on the Glasgow Coma Scale, but still, that was a great example of how not to handle medical cases. (Of course, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1785210/1/The_Way_We_Were does do a good job of explaining it so it makes some sense medically.)

Sorry, tried to type just the word "this" for that and couldn't figure out how.

it happened to Rob once; on THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. He didn't get a second bump on the head that cured him though. It just "wore off" after a few hours. When he "awoke" he found himself in Red Hook, N.J. dancing with a strange woman.

It happened to Jack Benny on his radio show once. And Capt. Parmennter on F TROOP once.

On the last episode of the first season of I Dream of Jeannie, Tony was opening the refrigerator and the vase on top of it fell and hit him on the head and he developed a strange kind of amnesia. He only forgot Jeannie! But of course, when he was hit in the head again, he remembered Jeannie again. Just in time too, because he almost married her.

In the third season of I Dream of Jeannie, Jeannie got hit in the head and got amnesia. She didn't know she was a genie or who anyone was. It was really funny when Tony came into her hospital room to see her through the window and Jeannie screamed when she saw him. Eventually, as always Jeannie's memory came back, but I don't remember how.

Those are the only two I can think of right now, I'm sure I will think of more.
