Three times this has happened. It just happened this morning. I once received a phone call from Virgin Mobile saying (an automated call) "You are one month behind on your Virgin Mobile service. Please call our office to discuss this payment." Ok, I don't have a cell phone, and my family members in my home don't have Virgin Mobile. I thought it was a mistake and they meant to call another home. I dismissed it and just hung up without hearing the rest of the "tape".
Then the second time this call came in, I wasn't home and a voice mail message was left. This time I heard the whole thing and it went on and on abt what phones they have, blah blah blah, sounding more like an "ad" rather than a reminder to someone that they need to pay their phone bill. Today I got that call again! Same exact words, same tape, etc. It sounds like Virgin Mobile is just doing random calling and this is the new way to "advertise". So friggin' annoying!!!!!! Anyone else get these kinds of calls? |

So... um.... Something really gets me...
Do these companies really, truly, seriously, honest to God expect to gain more customers/money by putting out such deceitful telemarketing calls??? Seriously? |

Man, that sounds borderline illegal...not to mention an insult to intelligence.
First they get you all worried , then they try to sell you something; thats really low......must be even worse if you actually DO have Virgin mobile! Sounds like a good way to lose customers, not gain them!

I know, I can imagine if someone does have Virgin Mobile and hears that. They may have paid their bill and yet, have to waste time to call the company, blah blah blah.
I agree, what kind of people want to deal with a company that has to resort to telemarketing tactics and plain lies? |

I wish these people had the "b*lls" to actually call me live, so that I can tell them what to do with their intrusive phone calls. Getting angry at a tape recorded call is moot.

It doesn't do a whole lot of good to yell at the telemarketer, either. They're only doing their job as best they can(Granted, I'd have to be pretty desperate to even consider such a job). I'm just glad I don't have Virgin Mobile anymore. I didn't have any problems with them, but still. This tactic is pathetic! |

That's ******** anyway, because Virgin Mobile is a pay-as-you-go service. There is no bill. But not everyone is gonna know that. What a deceitful way to sell phones.

That's the beauty of caller ID. If I don't recognize the name/number, I just won't answer the phone. If it's really important, I'll wait to see if they leave a message. Nine out of ten times they don't leave a message.
The way I see it - these jokers may try to get around all the do not call lists they can, but they can't get me to answer the phone. SO THERE, all you annoying telemarketers/phone solicitors!!

I do have caller ID. And when they called this morning, my boyfriend picked it up. He picks it up REGARDLESS. I tell him if it says UNKNOWN CALLER, don't pick it up. He refuses. So, that is how that stupid call came abt this morning.

When we first got caller ID, my parents used to pick up "Unknown Caller" calls for a long time even after I told them not to. Eventually, they got the hint. None of us answers if it's "Unknown Caller".
