An observation made in BABY PICTURES episode...

Lucy is faking making a phone call to the Appleby's, Ricky soon discovers that she is faking this call. As he is talking on the phone to Caroline's husband, Lucy is seen trying to rip the phone cord out of the wall. Is this the only time we see that placement of the cord into the wall, there where we see it, above the desk?

Another good catch! The phone jack you mention was not seen before this episode. Then after that it seems they left it there but it was not being used. We can see it clearly four episodes later in "Too Many Crooks," (Madame X), when Ricky is sitting at the desk discussing the silver cigarette lighter plan with Lucy. Lucy is sitting on the couch, picks up the phone and makes a call, but the phone is not connected to the empty jack on the wall behind Ricky.

I just seen that episode yesterday!!! and I did notice that. I am trying to go by memory, in the episode when the three are trying to help Lucy rehearse for the trip to the hospital, Ricky accidently puts the phone in the luggage and of course, as he runs out during the real thing, the phone cord yanks his butt backwards. I am assuming the cord is attached to the wall, lower to the ground, am I right?

In "Lucy Goes to the Hospital," they are still in the old apartment. That one-episode-wonder phone jack was in the new apartment.

An interesting thing, though. In the hospital one, the phone isn't even plugged in! The cord is coiled up on the floor by the couch. No cord is seen coming out from the couch to a wall. I think it is secured under the couch just for that scene, since Ricky applies a lot of pressure to the cord when he yanks on it. Alas, another one-episode-wonder!

Notice that the Ricardos' phone is always placed somewhere different, conveniently staged as to where it will be needed next.
