When I was younger, my mother made us all sit down and watch Life Goes On. Even as a kid I thought it was a corny show.

The Bill Anderson Show

And several other country music shows that were shown on Saturday evenings. I didn't like any of them as a kid and still don't care much for them.

These are uk tv shows, ive always liked usa tv shows more than uk shows but dont get me wrong there are uk shows that i love just a handful i guess.

They didn't make me watch any shows I didn't like. If I didn't want to watch what they were watching, I'd go to my room and read (before I bought my own TV, that is -

). Most of the shows my parents liked, they wouldn't let me watch because it was past my bedtime.

Now I'll watch shows like Law & Order and The Tonight Show with them, or the nightly news. Yes, I've turned into a boring fuddy duddy.

I can only remember two. They weren't shows though; they were movies. And it was my mother who made us watch them, not our father.
One was a religous movie called "THE SONG OF BERNADETTE", and the other was a musical that starred Danny Kaye about Danish childrens author Hans Christian Anderson.

same here!

those shows were like aimed at elderly people- no offence btw and yeah, like yourself, i've always preferred watching american tv programmes, especially sitcoms over british shows
