Motorcyclist killed in San Francisco - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I just saw an episode from about 1993 where a motorcyclist who liked racing and was well-known for this was murdered in San Francisco. The police's theory is that he went for a ride and while stopped somewhere to look at the view, he was approached by someone who wanted to steal his bike. The victim then tried to ride away but was shot in the back as he was doing so. He was still able to ride as far as a service station where he collapsed and ultimately died. Does this case ring a bell with anyone and, if so, are there any updates? The victim didn't have any known enemies and it was thought that this could have been a random event.

His name was Michael Hunter. He was murdered in 1992. There are no updates on the case (or at least there are none that I'm aware of).
